Musical Influences
First type of music that inspired me was the eighties hip hop, afrika bambatta, nucleus, all the bboy type music. The first thing i tried to do when I got a hold of some turntables, Pioneer 700's to be exact, was to scratch, of course it sounded like crap, but i learned some cool techniques real quick. I liked all the music from the era of Lime, John Rocca, Laser Dance, and have evolved with the music starting with that classic house, chicago house with all the artists of the time like chip e, Kevin Saunderson, Farley and Joe Smooth... Imports on plymouth court was my favorite place to pick up music, Stacey Wellons was the man that always helped me pick the hottest music. Also got a lot of help from Paulie BDown Flores in that store. I was also influenced by High Energy mixes we were doin with tracks from many artists like heaven 17 then when techno music hit hard and imports from europe were all the rage, I was always goin broke spendin 10 to 15 a record, but the response from the dancefloors was always worth it. Hard house was always one of my favorite types of music as well as Latin Freestyle which will always play a part of my upbringing in the dj world. Never really used to play it at clubs or parties but I had a shitload of mixtapes I did for people and myself just to listen to. In the late 90's it was all about reggaeton, merengue, salsa, for me, but I still played everything else in my crate. I guess you can say, ive been influenced by everything ive ever listened to. Even classic rock, thrash metal, classical and even some folk music. If a song is good, I dont care what genre it is, if it makes you feel good when you hear it, thats all that matters.
Gear / Equipment
Technics Sl1200's (of course), Pioneer DJM 400, Stanton sk2f, Numark 2002x, Rane Serato Scratch Live.
Artists Record Bag
Nothing, all records i ever owned were stolen over the years. No worry though, thank god for serato and mp3s, i would have stopped djing a long time ago had it not been for the innovations that have appeared over last 10 years.
