Biography
Dom Franklyn, (real name David Edwards Jnr) has been mixing the wheels of steel since 1992. Living in the south of England, he comes from a music loving family and naturally took to the turntables following his father’s footsteps (a veteran DJ from the 1970's). Playing at as many parties as he could muster, he grew a respectable name under the guidance of a classic mix master and was known for creating great dance floor vibes using all types of music. Taking it back to the 60’s bringing it through to the 90’s.
Learning the classic disco sound he moved through the house genres working various dance floors around the south of England, and has now evolved in to an electro and techno DJ/producer, ripping gorgeous sets where ever he lays is DJ bag.
Things weren’t always the same; back in 1994 he caught scent of the southern happy hardcore scene which threw the famous Rhythm Station parties where he became a keen clubbing flowing greats such as Slipmatt and Supreme. These first influences into tougher music began to mould his darker style.
Working on this unique style he picked up his first residency at 15 years old in a Fleet (surrey) night club playing hardcore and grew a keen following of clubbers, whom of which happily took a copy of his weekly mix tape.
Following his early success he went back to his disco roots and found house music once more and was recruited by RHP (The Reading House Party). Touching base with DJs he grew up with he started smashing sets with other up and coming talents and changing the Reading dance scene forever. At the same time he picked large sets in university balls and still found time to land sets along side some older greats like Luvdup and BigEd. Pantiles, in Bagshot, Surrey, was the next stop where he played numerous guest sets in one of England’s historic celebrity venues. It was here and at the time of the rebirth of the electronic scene, he found his soft spot for IDM and electro music.
He kept on moving, playing the bar and club circuit, playing out in Brixton, Clapham, Brighton, before deciding to start a promotion on his own, IDENTiTY. Fellow DJs Tru-D, Skinner and Ravey combined with Dom and kicked off the promotion in 2006 starting it the home town of Reading, Berkshire, and was a success to all DJs and clubbers wanting to hear experimental and intelligent dance music from selected DJ.
Still working the London bars and clubs he’s now currently working on his first album as a producer, his story continues.
