old skool mix

This for anyone who used to go to TinTins in Birmingham in the mid 90s!
The story of this Mix is pretty interesting. I bought these tracks on a CD, back in the day. I think I sold it? But I ended up with a Mix tape of, I found it the other day and played it. I thought I'd love to get those tracks again! I went online and saw it at £18 on Amazon. But then I saw it on Ebay for £6, so I bought it and Mixed it! So here it is! For anyone back in the 90s who went to any Hard House 'after hours' Clubs, you too might remember some of these TUNES!

This is my best mix so far, loads of fun doing this one, top tunes, 8 months of teaching myself how to spin d tunes (family duties and work permitting) are now paying off, tell me what you think, fluffed it about 47mins in when i was interrupted by my 9yr old! but carried on regardless.

So many great songs so i just had some time so i made a short mix [37 minutes] of my favorite tunes ,
This isnt ment to be a top notch mix or anything fancy , its just a few of my favorites put together for my own pleasure

The same records from 1992_-_041113_Grooveriders_Groove only with everything reversed. Meaning if an A side was played before, the mirror image B side tune will be played instead. If both sides were played like with the Top Buzz record, then the order that they appear
in the mix will be reversed.  It gets funny when using a repress that has different era tunes on the flip like with the Ed Rush tune, I managed to make it work just the same.

I got the idea for this one when I was sitting on the toilet and reading a book I got recently about jungle called "All Crews". I really like the B sides of some of these so I wanted to hear them on my iPOD.  The way that I've gone about this makes the tunes still sound as though Grooverider played them as some things come in unexpectedly.  My favorite one here is Smith Inc. "Change".

Heres another one from the #1 USA Grooverider fan boy.

I really liked this Grooverider set I have that was just called Grooverider @ FutureHardcore 1994.  I downloaded it from the "oldschool" mailing list (pre Back to the old skool message board) in 1998.  The sould quality was crap and I couldn't even download the entire B side of this mix.  The tracks on the first side were wonderful.  Most of the tracks sounded like a continuation of fluffy 1993 'ardkore and previously I thought all 1994 jungle was ragga sample fest nonsense. 

Thanks to a fellow bedroom dj / collector who goes by the name "N-Flow" on the internets, I was able to find out that this set was called Grooverider @ The Edge, The Final Chapter.  With that I was able to ID all of the tracks and I'm very thankful for the help.  Sadly two of the tracks were played on dubplates and were never released.  So remaking this set is out of the question.  I'm not too surprised the bleepy tune (Chapter 19) turned out to by Dillinja because I bought at track of his called "Amen Bleeps" in 2000 because it reminded me of this one.  Sometimes I find it amazing that Dillinja used to make good jungle in the early days, I really wonder what happened to him.

So this set is more of a hommage to Grooverider @ The Edge, The Final Chapter as the center of the set is the best part from that event.  The rest is other 1994 (or late 93) stuff that I got recently that fits well with the rest.

On a side note, that Top Buzz record is one that I had the chance to buy MANY times but always passed it up.  I saw it for sale again by a really good seller for cheap so I decided to get it.  I'm glad I did and I don't know what I was thinking when I passed it up all those times.  Both sides are just so amazing!  The Wok sounds simmilar to Speedy J's Rise and the flip sounds like Tango's Disturbance remix but with uplifting vocals and a proper hands in the air bit.

After making this one I saw N-Flow uploaded a mix of his own where he ended his set with the exact same two tracks, Atlantic Drama into Horizons.  We probably made these on the same day too, must have been telepathy.
