My love for dance music began in my teenage years listening to old shows on Radio 1 with Judge Jules and Dave Pearce along with various dance/house/trance/commercial compilation albums from 1996 onwards including the Ministry Of Sound, Kiss Ibiza, Trance nation, Gatecrasher and the Euphoria series etc.
I was a big lover of Trance at the time with the euphoric hands in the air moments and anything catchy with vocals.I began to find myself drawn to the late Hard-House scene shortly after by listening to many albums with the unforgettable hoovers& horns & unique style had me gripped from the first moments I heard it. when headline names in these genres began to get booked at many local nights in East Anglia including Pams House, Dance Paradise Rumble, Euphoria, Progress, Miss MoneyPennys& The Kitchen I couldn't help but want to be a part of this growing community.
So between 2001-2002 when I was just turning 18 I attended many events to get a real taste of club life and what it was all about. Hearing my favourite tunes previously listened to on Cd's along with seeing my favourite DJ's was inspirational and a great experience.
I started piecing together my own music here and there for fun with a few friends using very basic software when I was around the age of 19 as a little past time & enjoyed playing my material to friends and family to get feedback which helped me to experiment further learning how to construct a track with intro's and outro's etc. Although at the time my interests were solely focused on music and not the performance itself, watching DJ's perform and the way the crowds reacted encouraged me to learn how to mix and so began practicing with friends messing around with a basic set of turntables & some old vinyl. This lead me to learn and understand how to mix properly to a certain extent but not really taking it seriously.
As time went on & previously following the bonkers series my interests turned back towards Hardcore around 2002 -2004 purely for it's new style, creativity and madness. The upbeat tempo, bouncy bass & big piano leads alongside its catchy melodies and vocals/MC's really had me hooked. The period around this date when hardcore transformed its style lead up to the first HTID & Raverbaby events that would undoubtedly put a change to everything.
Hardcore was forever changing its sound as far as I could remember leading to many other sub genres as it went along. But as it changed to UK Hardcore in this case, (being the Modernisation of happy hardcore) I instantly fell in love with it and the new feeling it created. The new breed of tracks were very upfront, vocal & euphoric with big leads and bass lines that I loved. This new style & line of DJ's had started the desire to start mixing but this time taking it to the next level.
So with a few budding bedroom DJ's we got hold of a set of decks, out came the vinyl and we practiced recording at home together mixing all sorts from Trance, Hard-style to D&B for a few good years. Little by little each day we slowly got better and better mixing and EQing. With a strong love for Hardcore still, soon after this period alas, DJ Enhance was born.
From that point in time my love for music progressed in many ways having learn't the art of DJing, Mixing New records from other genres, attending events to see my favourite names in the scene, listening to all the live CD packs and bootlegs of classic tracks over the years and the way hardcore alternated and transformed itself to what it is today certainly had it's impact on me.
At present I'm experimenting learning new production techniques with better software but still have alot to learn in regards to mastering my material. I have turned to mixing with CDJ's mainly just for fun nowadays still holding a big love for Trance, Hard-House, the many styles of Hardcore, Hard-style and Drum & Bass/Jungle. Although a hobby, gaining confidence through practicing my mixing helped me get to play at a few local nights alongside some top local DJ's giving me the experience I needed. I've played on local radio casts & had some good times with some great people along the way and it's all for the love of music. That's about it.
Who knows what the future will bring? It's all just good fun to me
