Hello,

my name is Dirk and I started my DJ career in 1986.

I was then literally thrown into cold water.I worked at the cashier deck of the disco and one day, a DJ called in sick. I was asked to jump in and I thought Sure putting on a vinyl and pressing the start button on a turntable cannot be as difficult. ;-)

A bit later I was lucky enough to meet a DJ who took the time and effort to induct me to mixing. Threre were no MP3's, no DJ software, no DJ CD drives these days, just vinyl and when the vinyl was at its end, it was the end.

So I learned oldschool DJing, with vinyl! Keeping an eye on breakpoints, counting beats and starting at the right moment so that the melody of the playing track came to an end with the melody of the new track starting right in time. No way to use loops and all the technical features which are standard today.

Nowadays I certainly work with MP3, Timecodes, CDs, Loops and all the fancy stuff a DJ software supplies, too. Nonetheless, if I play live, I just use vinyl and timecode vinyls. Cause in my opinion only this person is a real DJ who is able to use the pitch perfectly right. Everybody can press a sync button, this has nothing to do with Djing

During my career I played in many discotheques, nowadays they are called Clubs ;-) - I hosted live events and played aside of Andre Visior, JamX (DuMonde), Ulli Brenner, Rino da Silva and others. Also, I presented my shows on various radio stations.
