I dug deep and have included 4 tracks from the Brits, but also 3 from Steve Arrington, 2 from L.J. Reynolds, and 2 from Inner Life, one is an instrumental remix. My pick of the tracks are the offerings from Hi-Tension and Central Line but saying all the tracks are ace.
Steve Arrington (b. 1956) is an American singer, songwriter, drummer, producer, engineer and minister who grew up in Dayton, Ohio.Arrington played in various local bands before joining and touring with The Murphy’s, a lounge band out of Toledo, Ohio, in 1975. Approximately a year later, Arrington relocated from Ohio to San Francisco, California where he learned Latin percussion and drumming from Coke Escovedo and Pete and Shelia Escovedo (aka Shelia E.). He joined the funk group Slave (founded 1975) in 1978 originally to play percussion, then became the drummer and a backing vocalist.
L.J. Reynolds (real name Larry James Reynolds) was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on Jan 27 1952.He was a member of the groups The Relations, Chocolate Syrup (also known as Larry Reynolds and Chocolate Syrup). He joined The Dramatics in 1973, left them in 1981 and rejoined in 1986. From 1981 to 2008 he has released eight solo albums.
Inner Life was a studio project of the disco era who enjoyed success with "I'm Caught Up (In a One Night Love Affair)" (1979) and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (1981). Both tracks featured the vocals of Jocelyn Brown.

Hi Tension were a North London Soul and Funk band, seen as pioneers of Brit funk and started as Hott Waxx in the early 1970s. They included Phil Fearon (Galaxy and Kandidate) and Lloyd Phillips (Kandidate) brother of Paul, before becoming Hi Tension and riding high on the Brit funk wave with tracks “Hi Tension” and “British Hustle”.
Brit funk has its roots in North and East London. The pioneers of Brit funk were Hi Tension, a band from northwest London, which started as Hot Waxx in the early 1970s.[1] The Real Thing,Heatwave and Gonzalez were also pioneers from the late 1970s, adding their own slant to the American melodic funk and R&B sounds of the post-disco era. However, the first time the term was use was in reference to bands such as Light of the World, who were obviously influenced by the funk scene from the USA, but were happy to acknowledge their UK roots without the need to adopt American accents on stage.
