September is a good month for me, most of the time. Several years ago, I began work on a contract with the company behind Gatecrasher. Oh, wow. (Yawn.) I can see some react that way. It proved to be a good time. Gatecrasher as at its height while it was based in Sheffield.

What made it a good time for me wasn't working for a big name, big time club organization. The reaction I got from others during the first weeks was out of this world. Here's this guy, who doesn't look like he'd go clubbing and.... what do you know? "OUR DJs and promoters are talking...." - "Wait a mo! He knows....." - "Bil.... is a DJ!" The reaction to that was best of all. What's so unusual?

As a lot know, I'm more associated with The Underground Scene, and have been for many years. Does this sound like 'Orpheus In The Underworld'? Bil (from The Underground) at Gatecrasher (The Mainstream)!! Ha! Don't you just love it!!

Where does this set fit in with all that? Trance was synonymous with Gatecrasher; Gatecrasher spoke Trance. What I've done here is pull a set together of Trance  blending some Classics with other tracks. Does that sound easy? Start with tracks dating back to the dawn of Trance & the beginnings of Gatecrasher, then count..... It's a very large number, and that's without completing a count of tracks. Through various stages, it comes down to a core of 200 possibles. Enough there for a marathon. Too much for places like this.

So, after trying ideas, bringing bunches of tracks into batches..... It ends up with a final core of 25 to work from. That does not exclude going back into the racks, finding the track that came to mind, and substituting it into the mix. Once done, I thought that around 2 hours was ideal for the journey I wanted to take everyone on... and at 140 BPM!!

Out of interest, I do have copies of the final group of batches of tracks. Somewhere, I will publish those just to show what was left out. Even then, there is an incredible list of 'could've been' tracks.
