Ever since I was young I always had an ear for electronic music, listening to artists like Jean Michel Jarre and Vengelis, letting the music take my mind away somewhere else in an almost dream like fashion. I loved electronic music to its core and always knew it would be at the forefront of what everyone would listen to in the future.I listened to dance music from the late 80’s early 90’s emerging rave scene and loved the diversity and uniqueness of these sounds being produced and had an almost raw and new feeling to them, I knew I had to do something to be a part of this new culture and sitting eagerly listening to the radio was no longer enough, so decided to get those funny looking spinning discs that I saw those strange looking dj’s use, and yes when I turned 15 I got my first pair of Soundlab DLP 1600’s and gave the records a spin for the first time, but took me a while until a good friend of mine showed me the ropes and I was off from there on in!

I took to the raves, then clubbing scene in the mid to late 90’s but was still a bit young to stand behind the decks, but was very eager to at that point and once my mixing was up to scratch I passed on mixes to friends, and eventually in the late 90’s early 2000’s on to dj’s at clubs and club promoters such as Chas Rose who were willing to see if I had what it takes to hold my own and after a few tweaks here and there, and switching to the club standard trusty Technics 1210’s I gave it a go to get on the main roster at Club Oxygen, but I was unsuccessful at that time due to life’s ups and downs, and decided to hang up my headphones and focus on different matters, thinking my djing days were over!

Fast forward 12 years, with a fresh head and with a new found interest in the technology available to dj for free on the computer, I started to use virtual dj and gave mixing another go, mainly just to mix songs from the past and present, and give out mixes to old friends who share similar tastes. Not only did this lead me back to the club scene but back with the very person who was willing to give me a chance all those years ago in Club Oxygen’s Chas Rose! But not only that I have Wendy to thank, and my friends Dennis and Leah, who without me passing on mixes, this would never have happened, and as strange as life can be I now have my STORM residency with a great bunch of dj’s and crew to fit! So here’s to the future and long may it last, with hard work and lots of effort STORM will hold some of the best nights in Edinburgh, as a commercial house/electro club on the rise!
