Description mix
This was my entry for a remix contest back in 2005. There were 13 songs available you could choose from:

1) DIAMONDS - Herb Alpert
2) LESSONS IN LOVE - Level 42
3) CARIBBEAN QUEEN - Billy Ocean
4) ROCKIT - Herbie Hancock
5) DOWN ON THE STREET - Shakatak
6) BASS [HOW LOW CAN YOU GO] - Simon Harris
7) BEAT DIS - Bomb The Bass
8) ELECTRICA SALSA - Off
9) TOGETHER FOREVER - Rick Astley
10) PRECIOUS LITTLE DIAMOND - Fox The Fox
11) IN MY HOUSE - Mary Jane Girls
12) FRESH - Kool & The Gang
13) NINETEEN - Paul Hardcastle

Every contestant could choose from these songs which ever he wanted. You were not allowed to use other versions than the one that was provided by JB. Nor could you use accapella's from the songs, remixes or extended versions.

Therefore I had to use several effects to create a DIY accapella from Rick Astley's "Together Forever" to put over the last part of the mix which features Off's "Electra Salsa" [DIY stands for "Do It Yourself" which means by using several effects you create a semi accapella of a song. When you put it over a strong beat it works perfectly].

Track number 6) HAD to be used in the mix. Other tracks could be chosen by each contestant. So you could either use all other tracks or just a few of them.

I decided not to use tracks 1) - 2) and 3) cause I thought they wouldn't fit my megamix. Furthermore I decided the Herbie Hancock track "Rock It" had to be the guideline for my megamix. Really love that song, especially the scratching part, which can be heard several times during the megamix.

The winner would get his megamix transferred to an official vinyl record, with label and all .. therefor the TT of the megamix had to be no longer than 9 minutes exactly. I perfectly stayed under that time with a megamix of 8 min 58 sec ..

I really loved the challenge of making this mix and hope you love listening to it as much as I loved creating it.

If you like the megamix, feel free to leave me a comment and/or add the megamix to your playlist.

Enjoy!

(this megamix runs at exactly 115,30 BPM)
