It was about 20 some years ago when I first heard Deep House. A friend handed me the CD, his eyes wide with the excitement of having discovered something special. And it was. It wasn't like what's called Deep House today, though that is very good and I play the crap out of it too. It was then a lot more techno, heavy bass and steady tranced out beat that you could lose yourself in. It didn't need to tell you it was deep, there was something in the rhythm itself and the fading echos of melody that teased and played that seemed spiritual somehow, profound. The memory of it has faded for me to something mythic, more than it ever could have been at the time. But this mix is the sort of sounds that remind me of that time. That Deep House, Deep Techno, that I don't hear very often today. I enjoyed this one very much. I'll have to do a longer one sometime when I get more tracks that can match this level of quality. Live from my birthday party, because yes, I'm a Pisces, and we go deep.
