The Montreal scene for Hip Hop, RnB and House have been around both underground and on a major international club scene since both of their births. New York is just on top of Montreal while Chicago is two hours by plane, that’s where allot of Montreal’s music energy and swagg have always arrived from. Montreal’s very own treasure DJ Fabian” Kickin” Ashe is a product of those trips back and forth from back in the day before internet downloads “We went for the music that was the only way to get it back then”. He and old time party partner “Fitz” from “Fitz and Fabian” always dominated any night they threw a major event, party or had a club going on in the city.
Their gaffle was they continuously were getting the fresh music here and letting Montreal have it every weekend on radio and in the clubs. With packed line ups, a long VIP list, a kitted down dressed crowd inside the club, Fabian would be on the turntables 1 and 2 kickin’ it.
Known for his headset off the side of his head, this mix master of a DJ can be seen in the DJ booth jamming to his own mix. While creepin’ in the next song slowly makin’ you want that next jam to hit you, then there it is,That’s Fabian’s style. With perfection on every mix he never misses a beat, never. Fabian keeps the crowd and the dance floor glued every mix seems to be the right one when it comes in. When was the last time you danced or heard the club jammin like that, if it’s been awhile you need to hear Fabian “Kickin” Ashe spin and you’ll be treated to the way the music should be hittin’ you on the dance floor guaranteed!!!! From being a club DJ to now a business man for music production, Fabian from the early DJ days was behind the white label Q Masters mix crew and their 12” vinyl mixes that DJ’s around the world have in their vinyl crate collection still have in crate to this day or burned into their CD, loaded in their iPods or in their laptops.
Still behind the scenes workin’ for heavy mixes in house and hot in the urban music scene, Fabian is working hard as a serious mixer in production for many various artists, House, Hip Hop and film projects. Caught up with Fabian just back from New York working out a new house mix for his upcoming 2014 mix projects. DJ Mag sat down with this DJ to discuss the future of the DJ and his new ventures from the studio, club and for 2014 with the net…..
