In tribute to one of many deejays who inspired me,and still continues to inspire me, David Tafolla.
Sadly David Tafolla aka DJ De La Vie was murdered by persons unknown in April 2006. As deejay De La Vie was one of kind. Known not just for his skills but his creativity,by consensus, he one of the best the Inland Empire produced. Years before Mike Realm fascinated audiences with his Peanuts routin De La Vie rocked the dance floor with the theme to Sanford & Son. I always remembered him dropping that tune in the middle of a Hip Hop set and never forgotten how nobody left the dance floor. The one thing I took away for that was never be afraid play a tune,be creative and don't follow the crowd,lead the crowd.
Today, March 7th would have been his 42st birthday. I can't rock as hard as David would have, my skills over the years have waned hopefully this mix can is fitting tribute to all those who knew him.
Although I used spin some Hi-Nr-G/Italo Disco/LA Disco, as well as New Wave, I don't have any those old songs in my crates anymore nor felt like hunting them down so instead I took many Freestyle songs from the old days of the Party Crew scene as well some Hip Hop joints,I believe, he would have loved, and mixed it all in to an 2 hour mix.
