    Who is John Cue?

John Cue is a definitive DJ, remixer; a tastemaker whose mix sets combine quality house music with the power to move dance floors. Over the years, he's wowed crowds in such nightclubs and lounges: The Saint, LimeLight, Roxy (1018), Save the Robot, Twist, Tilt, Foxy's and Naked Lunch in NYC to Warsaw, Liquid, KGB, Chili Pepper and GEM in Miami. He has and still to this day provides some of the most groundbreaking sets for many of those lucky enough to hear him.

John Cue was born in New York City and was raised in the Bronx and Brooklyn. He now lives in South Florida yet there is something distinctly non-territorial in his work. Although loving the atmosphere in the big NYC and Miami nightclubs, John loves to spin or share his mixes with friends in intimate settings as well. Think mega DJ with equal treatment for all the masses.

Turning to music from the early age to avoid a troubled childhood, John started collecting Disco, Funk, Hip Hop and House records when he was young, even before becoming a DJ, so he obviously loved electronic sounds without even realizing it would become a major part of his life. But it was House Music that really turned John on.

It wasn't long before his DJ friends were luring him off to parties and allowing him to watch and suggest tracks to mix while they heated up the tables during multi-hour sets. "I was mixing without touching the tables". "I knew what track should go next in a mix and when so, all I needed was a set up of my own". "I was totally blown away by the whole experience: the sound system, the dark room, the strobes and the atmosphere. It wasn't long before I was inspired to do my own thing".

John Cue: a pioneer of all types of Dance Music who loves unrehearsed, uniquely mixed sets. If you were waiting for a change of musical tack, then follow John Cue's lead. Don't be left behind.

  • My Gear / Equipment

I started DJing in 1987 with the all-time standard Technics 1200's and a Numark mixer. I soon discovered the beauty of mixing on a Urei 1620 (Rotary) mixer a few years later and never looked back at a fader mixer again. As the years past, I started trying and then moving through various CD turntables including Denon DN5000's, Technic DZ1200's, and of course CDJ-1000's. I switched from my Urei 1620 mixer to a Pioneer DJM-800 (w/ knobs). With regards to software, I started using Serato around 2006 and continued with it for a few years but recently switched over to Traktor Pro 2.

Tune in for my weekly show on www.massmoveradio.com on Saturdays 3-4pm
