It was a year ago today that Open Decks unofficially began, with only two contributors and hardly an audience to appreciate the selection. However, the next month the event officially made its mark on Vortex, with the first 5 official contributors turning the Sunday night into the new Saturday. The event continued to have an overwhelming response from contributors and supporters, turning it into a favourite daytime party amongst our small party scene. January 2015 Open Decks birthday special was the return of the players, who played their vinyl selection last year and were eager to have a second play on the turntables. Our fouth contributor Karen "The Grifter" Griffith, has come leaps and bounds with her vinyl collection, even though she owns no turntables of her own. A quality selection of classic house tracks had the crowd going wild in this recording live from The Vortex Downstairs.
