In a brief departure from my usual uplifting old skool piano gaiety (which I will be getting back to in due course), Im giving you another insight into some other kinds of tunes that rock my boat. My latest mix, Old Skool Breaks - Vol 1. Done on Technics turntables, nothing fancy, just 2 decks, records and mixing. The timeline for this is 85-90. When I say breaks. Im talking early stuff. Electro, Freestyle, Proto rave bombs. These tunes are sample based with a raw edge. The sound is unmistakable and funky. Its about the beats, bass, synths and choice samples. Theres a track list included in case you want to buy the vinyl records, or you might just be a nosey bastard :) Feel free to share this with like minded people.. If you dont recognise any or many of these tunes, give it a try anyway. Its a snapshot of a forgotten era of GREAT music.
