Interesting story behind this one.

A friend of my long time friend from Brooklyn found this record bag outside her apartment building which was left out in the rain. This person gave it to my friend as he is known to be into dance music. This friend decided he wanted to give it to me. Many months pass and my friend tells me that his folks are coming over and he wants to clean out the apartment. He says if I don't pick up these records he was holding for me they are going to get thrown in the bin. I could not make it to Brooklyn and so 20.00 and empty Juno boxes was sent to his apt. A week later and a shit load of records shows up on my door step. Lots of 80s pop, trance, and progressive house. The progressive house portion of this newly aquired collection is what represents this mix. I've also thrown a few of my own records in to the mix such as Alexi's Acid Sessions, Stop!!! (Feel what you wont), and a few cuts on CDR. Guidocore vol.2 will be the trance records if I can stand to listen to them for more then 2 minutes.

This mix didn't come out bad at all concidering that these are records I would never buy myself. I really like the Montero Grooves GRVS 001 record, quality deep sexy house.

So if your name is Vinny, have a fake tan, shoot steroids while in the bathroom of gold's gym, love to say the word "Fuck" in every sentence, ware a gold cross around you neck but never go to church, then you'll probably like this mix.  I'm half Italian so I can make fun of this shit all day long as per the unwritten rules of racist remarks.  Me, I'm not like this Jersey Shore crap, I'm a very nice guy who deserves a nice lady.

Now here is a proper 1992 Ratty / Top Buzz style jungletekno mix.  Unfortunatly its not 320kbps, its 192kbps.  At the time that I recorded it I didn't realize how much sound quality was lost by encoding at a rate lower then 320kbps and to make matters worse I had deleted the original .wav file to save hard drive space (hard drives were much smaller back then).  I'm such a dumb ass for not saving the .wav file but hind sight is 20/20 as they say.

Still this is a really dope set and it remains one of my favorites.

This is a mix I made especially for the Mondial Top Scan owned by Cumberland Valley Shows. This is the only Top Scan ride that travels in the United States and so it is quite a special machine. When I found out that it was going to be making an appearance at the 2003 Meadowlands Fair I wanted to give it a mix of quality music for it to play. At the time I would have just given it my Summer Vibe mix however that mix was on my old computer and I had no way of getting it onto my new one at that moment. So instead I just made a new mix from scratch.

This mix primarily focuses on 4/4 jungle tekno style tracks with a happy rushy quality to them. It came out quite well even though there are a few mistakes due to the fact it was rushed (ed note 2012: I don't know what I was talking about... the mix is perfect asside from the fact that its not 320kbps). Besides the patrons spinning upside down on a carnival ride won't notice something that only another record collector would.

When I finally got to the fair I gave this to the foreman of the ride who called himself Kenny Kelly. He was very happy, played the CD straight away, and offered me unlimited rides on the machine for my stay there. Unfortunatly I only rode it once because I almost had a mishap (*barf*) on the Bonzi ride. I guess I'm getting too old for marrithon amusement ride sessions.

At any rate my first and last time on the Top Scan was _extremely_ memorable because I got to ride it just as the mix went into Joint Project "Total Feeling" which is the rushiest track in the mix and probably the best.

WOW, WHAT A RUSH!!!!! RUSH FACTOR 9 MR. SULU!!!!

If the Top Scan didn't go to Canada this year instead of the Meadowlands fair I would have given the foreman a CD Wallet of 12 more hardcore CDs. Maybe next year...

Anyway I didn't release this mix on the internet untill now because I wanted that ride to have it to its self for a while but now here it is for everyone else!

Trivia:
Did you know there are two traveling Top Scans in England? The two rides are appropriately named Top Buzz and Top Buzz 2. Its not a mistake that I included a Top Buzz track in this mix and I'm sure the owners of the English rides know the score as well.

I managed to procure this project by arranging within Ableton Live then by using it as the master sequencer, I dropped sample accurate cuts through my MPC 2000 XL. Extra synth and bass richness were also injected by using my Roland 909 groove box. This mix is a hybrid experimentation both "in" and "out of the box" and was inspired by watching my brother Stacy Osorio work the MPC in the studio when he stayed with me recently. I have always admired his ability to produce a groove out of thin air, and I wanted to capture something similar on the fly to give the mix a certain special level of performance.

When my brother had visited, we managed to get my studio re-connected after a long hiatus (w/a broken midi patch bay). We replaced my old broken Midiman 8x8 with a newer model, and we got the studio to vibe like it once did in its heyday (circa late 90's early 2k's). With this on hand, I selected cuts then chopped them up by using sample accurate lengths which were arranged in Live. I then layered samples over the mix. The 909 came into play with thickening of existing bass lines, and also taking riffs into a more decorative melody motion within the mix.

The vibe is spot on with what I was trying to capture. A Deep Funky Jacking musical adventure... yet with this said, it's also has injections of digital 80's synth pop, 70's disco and a dash of Tech House as well.

I found new artists to promote like "The House Inspectors" "D-T3ch" "Chris Harris & Dom Martin" "Code Luke", and at the same time melded some choice tracks from my favorites like "Tovar" "B Original" "Jay West" & "Joey Youngman" The project was an interesting twist into uncharted territory for me, and I will continue to move in this direction with my mix projects.

30% of the mix is all original and the remaining 70% are re-edits of other Artist's tracks. This combination has made for a well rounded mix that bangs the beats in the car as well as on the dance floor.

A groovin' happy pop house mix.  Fabulous summer house.  Why OUT HOUSE?  It was turned loose the weekend of Gay Pride in Santa Fe, NM in 2002.  It was the third Saturday in June, so it was TIME TO COME "OUT" IN SANTA FE!!! 

And with SOOO many Porta Potties around the plaza that day, I just couldn't pass this one up and the FABULOUS Angelica Del Rio, Miss Gay Pride Albuquerque 2002 could NOT resist this fabulous photo shoot (But really, what drrag queen would ever resist a photo shoot!)  Love you Angelica!!.
