Hip Hop received a great shock yesterday with the announcement that Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch died at 47 years old. The cause of death was later confirmed as related to his three-year struggle with cancer, which most recently prevented him from joining his fellow band members for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month. While his mother and an official press release confirmed his death, several rappers spoke out on the inspiration that Beastie Boys had on their career. “Adam Yaucht brought a lot of positivity into the world and I think it's obvious to anyone how big of an influence the Beastie Boys were on me and so many others," said Eminem in a statement. "They are trailblazers and pioneers and Adam will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, Mike D., and Ad-Rock.” Rakim also shared his thoughts, explaining how grave the loss is for the culture...
