I don't always listen to Drum and Bass. But when I do, I listen to myself.
Stay 'Ardkore my friends.
This was the first mix I made with my Xone 92 mixer and new turntables. I have a rule for myself with this mixer... Never use the effects in sets pre 1996 because no one used wanky effects before that time. Since this one is 2000-2003 DnB effects happen to work well. Mind you, I don't go overboard with them like a certain famous DJ did on a certain famous label's mix CD.
It's Cinco De Mayo today so its time to share it again with the internet. Its not bad, I really like these tunes. Well, I must because I bought them when they came out by going to the local jungle store every week.

It looks like I have a hard time making a DnB set without Dylan's Ghetto Dub and Digital's K2. I sware those are the two best DnB tunes from the 2000s. One tune is an original 93-style 'ardkore tune in modern times, and the other is a mashup of World Dominance's Compression and DJB & EZM's Shockin to the Break of Dawn. It doesn't get much better with modern dnb...

This mix is 1993-flavored Drum & Bass from around 2007. Its real ravy, powerful, happy, fist pumping, hands in the air action if you know what I mean. Theres tracks by Total Science, Digital, and those awesome Irish guys like Beta 2 and Zero Tolerance. Theres even some nice 1993 style jams from Basement Records that came out in 2007! Its nothing quite as nice as "no. 303" but still really cool that they were trying to get in on this sound. One track I remember is a modern remix of Fast Floor "Plight of the innovators"
This is the 3rd version of a mix I did called "Birthday Present" since most of the records were mail ordered gifts. Some time had passed since that one which I wasn't happy with so I bought even more records. This lot was the last batch of new good dnb records I ever bought which was about 2007. I bought some clownstep in 2009 as a joke but thats besides the point.
I can't remember the tracklist so I know that will put discogs geeks like myself off from downloading this as we just want to know the names of tracks so we can get them if they are enjoyed. However I'm sure the other 99% just want free music to put on their ipod while doing the elyptical at the gym so this mix will do just fine for those.
This was and still is my favorite Drum and Bass mix that I ever recorded. It's just so perfect with the tracks and the flow of the set and I'm my own worst critic. At this point in time 2002, Drum and Bass was in full gear with its 1992 / 1993 'ardkore revival so every single track in this set references proper 'Ardkore so the vibe is quite happy! Its also one of the first mixes that I recorded as 320kbps MP3.
I originally had it hosted on niceboots and linked on Drum and Bass forum. It's since been offline for years. I was also revisiting my hobby of building scale model amusment rides (its big in Germany!) at the time so I gave this mix out to several carnival rides. At one point I worked part time on a music ride and played the CD on it. The guidos at the shore clearly didn't get it. I remember when "Lip Service" was playing some Guidettes screamed "This sucks" during the long breakdown. This music is way too good for the Jersey Shore, hence why a DNB scene never happened in that town. Here is the original text from DnB Forum:

Heres my first new mix in a very long time. Since I haven't been buying much DnB records recently you might find these tunes to be a bit old but that doesn't make them any less awesome. Besides sometimes it takes years for certain DnB records to come out as well (Syntax - coming for you / Mason - this is what we came for). So far this year this particular mix has been given out to two Bertizon brand amusement rides, the Super Himalaya of Reithopher Shows and the Rock & Roll (matterhorn) of Casino Pier. Not only do I like the rides but its also a bit of free promotion to people who might not normaly ever go to a DnB night club (like the little kids clapping their hands along to the beats which was nice).
PS: Also unlike previous mixes by me the tempo in this one is actually quite fast (~+2).
