We've had a brilliant month over here at D'Kota Towers. We've had two guest appearances on a couple of radio stations and managed to prop up the No.1 slot here on House-Mixes. Hi eveyone !!! We've just had a brilliant weekend at Toolroom Knights with Mark Knight, Banks Bar, Maidstone. We've just recovered enough to mix this set for you all to download. You can come and see us play live this month at M.O.T!on presents The Jamo Tribute Night, The Sunlounge, Derby on the 11th of August. This will be a huge night featuring 21 DJ's over 15 hours. It is always awesome playing The Sunlounge in Derby. Everybody there turns up because they love house music. It is one of the only clubs that lets you turn everything up to 11 and smash the shit out of the sound system. This set was recorded on the fly and was originally 3 hour long but I have had to edit it a litlle to upload it on House Mixes. I've got it down to 2 hours now. James Ward was warming up and he dropped a phenominal set. Proper hands in there style. Then we layed down this set. Birdsy and Matt Capone of Bigroom Drama finished the night off. Looking through the crowd, loads of our Facebook friends were there, Awesome. Huge thanks to The Sunlounge, Big Room Drama, Birdsy, Matt Capone, James Ward and all of our Facebook followers that turned up. We have loads on the year. Starting with The Crib on the 27th of April. We are DJ'ing with House Proud sound system. Barlow, Danny M and Westie. Then its my birthday at Hacketts in Belper. We are having a full on disco with Westie and Barlow. This is a live set that we recorded at The Masqurade Ball at Nono8 in Derby last Friday night. What a fabulous night. Gilly got the place rockin while we were slurping the Champangne. Loads of people went dressed to impress wearing masks and all that. We rocked up wearing V for Vendetta masks, lol. There were fire eaters and Burlesque dancers entertaining the crowd. Brilliant, A top night out. We have put some of the photos from the night on our Facebook book page. Go and have a look :) Our next gig is with Big Room Drama (Matt Capone and Birdsy) at The Sunlounge in Derby on the 18th of February. We are really looking forward to playing back at The Sunlounge. First of all... HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. Last night I had Danny and Barlow round. Armed with a load of Carlsberg Export and a bottle of Russian Standard Vodka, they hit the mixer to lay down this set. After a couple of technical issues (drunkeness) they zoned in and got on the case. I was determined to get in on the act... I donned my life support hat and within seconds, managed to cock it up !!! We are all playing live on the 27th of January at The Crib. Paul West, Danny M, Barlow, Dave DKota and me... Nickyboy. What a fabulous night.... although I am suffering this morning.... Here's a midweek set from Nickyboy. And, I think this is the first mix I've uploaded using my new S4. Anyway, I found an old Cevin Fisher track on youtube... The Freaks Come Out. I first heard this years ago on a bootleg Carl Cox tape I had. I loved it when I heard it all those years ago so I've had a root round and I managed to find it on Beatport. Yes !!!! Turns out is a real arse to mix so I didn't keep it in for long, lol. I ended up dropping in a couple of stonking tunes at the end to finish the mix off. Download and play loud !!!! I have gone mad and treated myself to a new Midi Controller. If Postman Pat gets his finger out, I should have a shiney new Traktor Kontrol S4 on Tuesday. Whooop !!! Tonight, I have grabbed a few tins of booze and got the old mixer out for one last blast before it goes on eBay. I have loved it, I have managed to squeeze in some old skool Carl Cox, Josh Wink and a corking Underworld track.
