The beauty of the internet. Sanna Hartfield's web site says "This page is for my acapellas. Feel free to download, remix and upload. " So I did, and this sprang into being in 2 days. Sanna can't half sing, and after listening to a few of her songs this one just called a riddim into existence in my head immediately... Full 12" discomix stylee with atomic dub section after the song.
Well I'm now on a
mission to perfect a sort of digital rocksteady sound, and as a start to
this I've remade one of my favorite rocksteady tunes, Digital Stylee...
Trying to get a robotic digital feel, while keeping the vibe of the
original and hopefully even adding to it, although how can you add to a
classic, I just hope I've done it some justice. If I get a good reaction
to this then I'll be using what I've learned making this, to make stuff
of my own composition along similar lines...
All instruments played and sequenced by the Criminal Justice, but couldnt resist sampling some "urh" vocals from the original!
Dubwise mix of the Drifter rddim, all riddim, sounds, effects and vintage vinylizing by the Criminal Justice. Mixed with a vintage feel like a 1970s dub, and messed up to sound like vinyl 45 b-side.
One of my favorite songs, remixed by me on one of my favorite riddims. Vocals Richie Spice of course, riddim all my own work but obviously based on "The Drifter" originally by Dennis Walks 1969, and versioned every 10 minutes since then. This mix has been artificially messed up to make it sound like it comes from a vinyl 45.
