Bio
DJ Clint began his career in 1981 at The Fineline (Tucson) - the only three-story club in the state of Arizona. As the back up DJ he started playing music on Sunday’s in order to give the main DJ a night off. He soon found himself the main resident DJ after only six months and remained there playing Disco, Nu-Wave and Pop Dance mixes for two years. Although his mixing skills still needed to be developed, he quickly found out that programming was just as important as mixing. Being there for 2 years allowed him to hone his mixing skills. The manager of TRAX, a levi/leather bar in Phoenix, was visiting Tucson, heard about the club, and wanted to see what all the talk was about, After hearing Clint play just once the manager of TRAX offered him a spot at his club in Phoenix.
Clint left Tucson and “The Fineline” in 1983 shortly after the offer was made for what ended up being a nine-year gig. It was in Phoenix, at TRAX where he blossomed into a seasoned veteran dj and built a strong following. Under the musical direction of Clint the club became known for it’s its non-top 40 underground Hi-NRG music, The club was named as one of the top five Hi-NRG clubs in the country by Dance Music Authority (DMA). The crowd was interactive with Clint’s music and often you could hear many of the regulars in the 350 capacity club playing all kinds of percussion instruments along with him as he states “very well”. It was here also that he had the opportunity to put on special event parties such as the infamous “Tattered and Torn” parties and “TAPS”, a military themed party. The club began featured singing acts and booked many of the Diva’s at the time which performed to over capacity crowds. The club was supposed to close at 3A.M, however, many weekend nights Clint would end up playing until the morning light came creeping in under the entrance door.
During his nine-year stint he often played other venues like Jack’s and the famous Scottsdale club “The Works”. He found himself working with now famous trance DJ/Producer Markus Schultz and Deep House DJ/Producer Eddie Amador. As a regular rotation DJ at the Works, he took on Trance music, and gained more of a following, and became known as a DJ that was adaptive to different styles of music. There were occasional trips back to Tucson for guest DJ spots for special parties.
Deciding that he wanted to go in another direction musically he eventually left TRAX for “Club 155-Harley’s”. It was there that his music took yet another turn into House Music, and in the city of Phoenix was a pioneer in playing Circuit music. Several guest spots followed during his term at “Club 155” in various places like Metro, Detour, and Fosters, The Works. “Club 155” put Clint on another long-term gig of five years up until 2005.
Opportunities seemed to follow and Clint never had to seek out work, it seemed to “fall in his lap”, as he says. In 2006 the club where he first started out, in Phoenix, TRAX, had been sold and was under new ownership. “Boom” as it is called had a slick, clean look, great sound system and lighting. He had come full circle in 2005 and returned to Boom, where it all started for him in Phoenix. It was here that he fully embraced Circuit Music which has remains close to his heart. Stepping away from the DJ booth in 2006 for a 1 year one-year hiatus he was approached in 20007 to do pre-recorded music for the Leather Bar Padlock/Cellblock. He stated It was a great two-year gig because his music and mixing could be heard and he didn’t even have to be there.
Still mixing music while in his self imposed semi-retirement, fast forward to 2013 where Clint started the Facebook page DANCE DJ’s UNITED https://www.facebook.com/groups/dancedjsunited/.
