Honestly, when mixing this months ago, it was simply to put an hour of something different together for personal listening. I do not profess, for a second, to be an expert on rap or hip-hop, but I love it as a diversion and respect that rap and hip-hop artists love 80s New Wave music. Dr. Dre's 2001 album is a personal favourite, and like most from the 80s, I love The Beastie Boys. Oddly enough, Eminem gets a lot of attention in this mix. I like, but don't love Eminem. I generally find this genre a tad self-indulgent ... but the sounds are incredible and fun to mix.
That said, this mix was very spontaneous. I'd love to do a mix like this in the future where I'm a bit more serious about the end result.
I still like it, though.
One day, I will re-visit this and take the next mix far more seriously.
