Bio
DJ David Webster has become a leading name in community radio highly sought after across his home county of Essex. Ever since his first show on a restricted service license at the tender age of 15, it was clear that he would never take too long a leave of absence from the studio. Indeed he hasn’t spent more than 12 months since without the microphone beckoning him back. David spent a year as the inaugural Wake Up presenter for Romford’s Link FM six days a week, and was welcomed back to cover various daytime shows in the years that followed. During his time there he conducted weekly programmes with the leader of the council, regular shows with the Mayor, interviews with local MPs and actor James Buckley (‘The Inbetweeners’, ‘Rock ‘n’ Chips’) and live coverage of the town show and local elections. He also launched the opening of a new Sainsbury’s store and attended the Night Life Awards at Time and Envy nightclub. He produced some of the station’s specialist programming, securing interviews with jazz sensation Peter Grant and UK Eurovision hopeful Josh Dubovie, and devised the flagship Link Select programme. This is where the airwaves were handed over for an hour to members of the public, local dignitaries or famous faces, the pinnacle of which being a special edition with 70s superstars Martin Jay from 5,000 Volts, and Tina Charles (‘I Love To Love’). David went on to become the Drive presenter at neighbouring Brentwood’s Phoenix FM (www.phoenixfm.com) for another year. He continued with his interest in local bands inviting them into the studio most weeks for a live acoustic set. Highlights there included switching on the town’s Christmas lights; speaking to comedians Greg Davies (‘Man Down’) and Bobby Davro; and interviewing pop supremos Mike Nolan of Original Bucks Fizz fame, former Busted star Charlie Simpson, and Aggro Santos following his appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. DJ David Webster is available for presentation, broadcast journalism and voiceover work. He can currently be found presenting The Brighter Breakfast on Basildon’s Gateway FM (www.gateway978.com) on Wednesday mornings, as well as providing consultancy for upstart Switch Radio (www.switchdunmow.com) in Great Dunmow.
