Music has been a place of inner peace and I hope you enjoy my sharing of it! Born and Raised in NYC and now in the ATL. I have been mixing since I was 14 years old. As a young fella I can remember watching DJ Starski, Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc, DJ The Red Alert to name a few hooking their equipment to the lamp poles in the parks in the South Bronx and Harlem it was on. The MCs were hyping or moving the crowd for the Deejays. When I moved from the Bronx to Queens, I joined the Gemini Crew and I was DJ Johnny Quick on the 1 and 2 with the cross fader. My Dad owned a night club in Brooklyn, so music was everywhere. As I got older and started going to the club scene in NYC there was one DJ that was such a technician and I often called him a Scientist the Legendary DJ Larry Levan famous for the Paradise Garage. VDJ JD is a nationally recognized and globally recognized DJ / Remixer / Producer of various forms of country music. Joshua Duerksen (VDJ JD) the V is for video, growing up in the Mid-West and California in the JD’s musical influences range from Classic Rock and Country to Hip Hop and 90’s Dance. He has been quoted stating. “Good music knows, no genre” After completing his high school education, JD joined the United States Navy serving his country for ten years. While stationed in Norfolk Virginia he met several DJ influences who mentored him and taught him the foundations of the different aspects of DJing. While not on deployment in the Navy he practiced improving his mixing skills and performance skills as a Club DJ, Mobile DJ, and Dive Bar DJ. After the Naval service, he moved to Idaho and opened a mobile disc jockey entertainment company. Providing DJ services to weddings, birthday parties, and school dances. In 2009 he started working for XMiX DJ Music Pool as a video editor taking the great remixes and edits produced by the talented editors and producers at XMiX. Then re-editing the music videos around the remix, making it easier for Video DJ’s to mix music videos. While in this role he honed his audio editing skills learning to build audio edits and remixes. JD's audio edits have been used in nationality syndicated country mix shows and around the world anywhere, where country music is played.
