MONTERO is a long-standing DJ shaped by the Tenerife underground scene, active since his teenage years, when he started DJing on vinyl under the influence of hardcore music and UK electronic sounds arriving in the Canary Islands during the 90s.

His early sets were raw and fast-paced, later evolving towards house and Acid-house by the late 90s. Around 1998, he became a resident DJ at Arena (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), spending several years developing a strong, technical and dancefloor-focused identity.

As his journey continued, his sound grew darker, deeper and more physical, naturally moving into tech-house territory. Around 2009, he joined the Balito Crew collective, organizing and playing raves across the island of Tenerife, fully immersed in underground rave culture beyond commercial circuits.

After that period, he continued as a solo artist, becoming resident DJ at El Templo (Güímar) and taking part in numerous underground raves and alternative events. MONTERO has never followed commercial trends — his sets are built around rave energy, solid groove construction and uncompromising underground selection.

Today, his sound sits between dark tech-house and techno, delivering heavy grooves, driving basslines and intense, no-frills sets designed to keep the dancefloor locked in from start to finish.

MONTERO es un DJ de larga trayectoria forjado en la escena underground de Tenerife, activo desde la adolescencia, cuando comenzó a pinchar con vinilos influenciado por el hardcore y por la electrónica importada del Reino Unido que marcó a toda una generación en las islas.

Sus primeras sesiones estuvieron cargadas de ritmos rápidos y energía cruda, evolucionando a finales de los 90 hacia el house y el sea-house, estilos que definieron el sonido de la época. En torno a 1998 se convirtió en DJ residente de Arena (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), donde pasó varios años consolidando un estilo sólido, técnico y orientado a la pista.

Con el paso del tiempo, su sonido se volvió más profundo, oscuro y físico, abrazando el tech-house como eje principal. A partir de 2009 formuó parte del colectivo Balito Crew, organizando y participando en raves por toda la isla de Tenerife, llevando la música electrónica fuera de los circuitos comerciales y directamente al terreno underground.

Tras esa etapa, continuó en solitario, siendo residente en El Templo (Güímar) y presente en numerosas raves y eventos alternativos. MONTERO nunca ha sido un DJ comercial: su identidad se basa en la cultura rave, la selección cuidada y los sets largos y contundentes.

Actualmente su sonido se mueve entre el tech-house más oscuro y el techno, con grooves sólidos, bajos pesados y una narrativa pensada para hacer bailar sin concesiones, siempre fiel al underground y a la energía real de la pista.
