You know me...  I've been obsessed with this music since I first heard it in 1993.  I was in a shitty ass high school at the time and had no way of getting to the city to go to the Limelight to hear this beautiful noise.

Recently, I was checking out Limelight videos on youtube the summer of 2010 and I saw clips from this movie "Bad Lieutenant".  I had heard of this movie previously from a 2002 Loxy & Ink jungle track of the same name (the track wasn't that good).  I ended up buying the movie on Amazon.  I must say this movie was pretty dark and not that much fun save for the kick ass Limelight scene.  I heard this weird version of Quadraphonia "Quadraphonia" that sounded much rougher.  The movie scene implied that the DJ at the Limelight mixed into Lords of Acid "Lets Get High", the version with Bill Cosby saying "Turn on the sweat machine" instead of "Lets get high and have fun" as on the CD album version.  I went to seek out both tracks on Discogs.  It turned out the Quadraphonia version was a "bootleg" by DJ Hell and the version of "Lets Get High" I actually already had buried in storage.

Lords of Acid "Lets Get High" is even cooler now since I bought the Max Headroom box set.  The vocal sample in that tune that says: "This is Catastrophic" is spoken by the Ned Grossburg character in the episode "Blipverts".  When I saw that scene I was like WTF!  HOLY CRAP!  Max Headroom is 'Ardkore!  Cool sample asside, thats the most bad ass 80s Sci-Fi show ever but now I'm off on a tangent.

Loved that Limelight scene in Bad Lieutenant, hated the rest of the movie.  I wanted to design a mix that emulated what the rest of the night would have been like in that movie had the camera stayed in the Limelight the rest of the night as it should have.  I think this set is an educated guess as to what that might have been like.  I made sure I used every single track that had a Limelight reference in the remix name, Jeff Mills stuff from 1992 (shame that Fury/Cyclone record was shittily mastered), I used every Charley Cassanova track I have 91-92 and I'm sure the church organs in his Blue Pearl remix was a direct reference to the fact the Limelight is a church.  I actually had no idea DJ Repeat of the Limelight had a remix credit for "Techno Nation" till just today when I typed this up.  I had just bought some records special to do this mix and I never used them ever again.  As a result I have some blanks in the tracklist as I can't remember what they are called for the life of me.

Anyway... Download and N-JOI
