I know many will pass on this volume of my The Listening series. Outiside of California Rodney O & Joe Cooley are not really known. Joe Cooley is well known and respected within DJ Culture but Rodney O is passed over within Hip Hop circles. Granted Rodney O is not going make anybody's top 50 emcee list yet compared to today's numerous “Young” or “Lil” rappers he can hold his own.
Musically Rodney & Joe music is based within California car culture of sampling 70s and 80's Funk. Their primary audience (and live performances) tend to be at Car Shows and Events. However this So Cal native has never slept on Rodney and Joe and neither should you.
