The story behind this mix is that I was scheduled to play at Vines Bar
on new years eve 2018 / 2019 in Derby, with Sean who also plays for
Wireless Soundsystem, for DENG - a music movement whose name was
inspired by the postcodes of Derby and Nottingham - DE and NG.

Unfortunately, Sean took a turn for the worse, and so I ended up playing
for almost the full 2 hours on my own, which I have to admit I loved,
but it was a shame that Sean was poorly.

The plan was that I was then going to play at a free party in what is
called 'the arches', under Friargate Bridge in Derby - a legendary venue
just on the way out of town. In respect of the venue - a dark,
crumbling warehouse kind of place - where in the past I had gotten home
to find a load of rubble and dust in my record bag - not ideal! - I
thought it would be fitting to play some of my favourite old underground
house chuggers. However, after patiently waiting for a few hours, Bez
was hogging the decks as he is apt to do, having a grand old time - and I
am not one to force my way onto the decks. House music and parties for
me have always been about the love, respect and enjoyment, I'm not into
fighting to get on the decks and never have been, so I never played that
night.

I was quite disappointed, I have to be honest, so later on I mixed the
tunes and here they are. So, I invite you to imagine that you are at a
party, in a dark warehouse, as you listen to this mix.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Peace.

Jez.
