After a 10-month hiatus, I’m back on YouTube with a fresh mini-mix, diving deep into one of my favorite compilations of last year: Permanent Vacation Vol. 8.
This session has been in the works since last summer, but after rediscovering some old project notes, it felt like the right moment to bring it to life. Ah the joy of two months off work!
Permanent Vacation has been a favourite label of mine ever since I first discovered them through Dølle Jølle's ‘Balearic Incarnation’ back in 2008.
Interestingly, revisiting these tracks now, they resonate even more than when I first heard them. It's a reminder of how the "novelty effect" (that initial rush of excitement when something feels new can equate to better) can wear off, and as a DJ I’m constantly looking out for this bias.
Recorded live on a hot Thursday afternoon in Fallowfield, Manchester, here are my favourite cuts from the compilation....
