NEW PROJECT
On Saturday November 23rd 2024 I started a new project. It’s one of a song by a popular girlie-trio. They were active mid 70s and early 80s and are called Luv’.

Luv’ consisted of the following members: José Hoebee, she did most of the lead vocals, Marga Scheide, who’s the one with the blonde hair and Patty Brard (she’s the most outspoken one of the trio).

Luv’ had several hits in various countries, but after Patty had left the trio and was replaced, the trio split up in the beginning of the 80s. However, in 1994, the girls had all become women now, the original Luv’ trio (José, Marga, Patty) recorded a reunion album titled “All You Need Is Luv’” (yes, the album has the slightly adapted title of the well-known Beatles song and the trio performs the song on the album too). Martin Duiser and Piet Souer wrote all other songs for the 1994 album.

ONE PARTICULAR SONG ON THE ALBUM
There’s a song on the 1994 reunion album titled “Don’t Stop Now” that has a quite catchy chorus. Now in advance of the re-release of the 1994 album “All You Need Is Luv’” on both CD and Vinyl, a remix of the song “Don’t Stop Now” has been released in both short & extended version that is seriously cringeworthy 😳😱🫣 (both will be included on the expanded re-release of the 1994 album). But both song and Luv’ women deserve so much better.

Reason why I’ve decided to produce a ‘30th Anniversary Extended Clubmix’ and ‘30th Anniversary Radio Clubmix’ myself. Simply because it CAN be done better and it SHOULD be done better!

THE OFFICIAL RELEASED REMIX
Now apparently the DJ/producer that’s responsible for the official released remix, has got a lot of followers on the streaming services and social media. It’s also said that he has done lots of remixes for famous artists 🤔🤨⁉️

But there’s a saying:
giving birth to a child does NOT automatically make you a (good) mother!

Of course I listen to a remix production differently than the average listener, no wonder, I am a remix producer myself so it’s only natural I listen in a different way. In short so everyone understands: there’s a new ‘tune’ or ‘melody’ played and that’s put ‘on top’ of the Luv’ track. But that new ‘tune’ or ‘melody’ does not fit with the original song! Let’s just say, the song goes left and that new melody goes right… it’s really cringeworthy.. it seriously hurts my ears when listening to it. It also sounds as if it’s been done by a 2 year old in like 10 minutes or so. This should definitely NOT carry the name ‘remix’ in my opinion!

MY UNOFFICIAL REMIX
I always stay very true to the original version of a song when doing a remix. There is a quote on the internet about what’s a good remix and it goes like this:
“The decisive factor for a great remix is if the remixer really feels inspired by the original or if they just knock out another one, like delivering pizzas. It's a matter of respect to the original artist to use as many original elements as possible while still turning the original track upside down.”

So that’s stuck in my mind always! I’ve worked on this remix since last Saturday and wanted to have it finished by Friday, that’s today as I’m uploading this remix, in which I have succeeded! Took me several hours a day to work on it to achieve the end-result which I know you will all find catchy.. ‘swinging’ (try to sit still on this remixed version, trust me, you can’t!).. ‘repeat-worthy’.. and so so much more 🥳

The original version of the song is 120 BPM and I’ve taken my remix up a notch to 125 BPM. An even catchier rhythm has been added to my remixed version, one that fits the song like a glove! I’ve also added the ‘live’ effect to the song to give that ‘fan-feeling’.. as if you’re at a live concert of Luv’ where they perform this catchy song 😊😇 You’ll hear that my new ‘arrangement’, my new rhythm to the song fits SO much better than the one that ‘famous DJ/producer’ has put on top of his remix of the song.

Enough said… have a listen yourself and feel free to let me know what you think of my remix of the 1994 Luv’ song “Don’t Stop Now” 😃

Enjoy the music!
