SOME BACKGROUND INFO
Over the years I’ve had several short mixes produced by me aired on Dutch radiostation ‘Radio 10’ in a radioshow called ‘Somertijd’. It’s a daily show that runs from Monday till Friday from 4 o’clock in the afternoon till 7 o’clock (16.00 - 19.00 CET). To be precise, already 15 short mixes produced by me have been played in the show ‘Somertijd’ on ‘Radio 10’.
The mix that’s been played in the show ‘Somertijd’ is called “Somertijd Weekend Dance Mix” or in short ‘SWDM’. It airs every Friday a few minutes after the 6 o’clock news (in the evening). The mixes that are played in ‘Somertijd’ are made by listeners that send them in.
Recently this year (2024) the show has moved from radiostation ‘Radio 10’ to radiostation ‘100% NL’ due to circumstances. Few months ago I send 5 new entries of ‘SWDM’ to ‘Somertijd’ which as said, these days airs on radiostation ‘100% NL’ from Monday till Friday (16.00 - 19.00 o’clock, CET).
As a result of that move from ‘Radio 10’ to radiostation ‘100% NL’ one of the co-hosts of the show ‘Somertijd’ asked the makers of the ‘SWDM’ if they would perhaps produce a Dutch version of the ‘Somertijd Weekend Dance Mix’ as the station ‘100% NL’ is a radiostation that broadcasts mostly Dutch music (either sung in the Dutch language or Dutch productions that are sung in English). They even said that it wouldn’t be possible or quite impossible to produce a ‘SWDM’ with only Dutch music, sung in the Dutch language.
BROADCAST OF SPECIAL SWDM
That’s why I decided to produce a ‘SWDM Special Dutch 100% NL Edition’ for the show that features ONLY songs sung in the Dutch language, even though I had already send 5 new mixes recently. I asked the co-host of ‘Somertijd’ to air this special edition BEFORE airing any of the other new 5 mixes I had send.
So a ‘Radio Edit’ of that ‘SWDM Special Dutch 100% NL Edition’ was broadcast on Friday, December 20th 2024, after the 6 o’clock news (in the evening) in the show ‘Somertijd’ on ‘100% NL’ which is a Dutch radiostation and they were quite surprised I proved them wrong, it not being able to produce a ‘SWDM’ with only songs sung in the Dutch language! And it’s an uptempo mix too, going from approx. 129 to 140 BPM!!
