Its way past midnight, swaying green palms, shimmering sea. The
quiet sound of a perfect post party bliss. Friends surrounded by
beautiful music.
This is my take on the legendary Back to Mine
series. Some of my all time favorite tracks, b-sides and remixes
spanning 4 decades of music. (various artists, 49:07)
Tracklist
01 The KLF - 3AM Eternal
Starting off with an
early 90s gem, the original track is wrapped in a blissful downtempo
Beaumont remix, sets the scene perfectly.
02 Jeremy Spencer Band - Cool Breeze
a 1979 rare find, I love this track for the melancholy guitar chords and sultry, powerful female vocals.
03 The System - Find It In Your Eyes
If you can take a dash of 2016 and mix it with 1983, serve it on ice,
you would get The System's "Find It In Your Eyes" - a modern yet retro
sounding kaleidoscope of sound, synth & bass tones collide with
guitar riffs, producing something eerily familiar yet futuristic.
04 Ned Doheny - Get It Up For Love
A 1976 R&B slow jam. Love this track for its funky, fun arrangement.
05 Simply Red - Sunrise
Sunrise is a relatively recent 2003 gem, has some samples from Hall & Oates, has a classic sound of mid 80s synth pop
06 Sonya Spence - Let Love Flow
A beautiful gem from 1981, this reggae classic from Sonia Spence instantly warms up the room. Classic 80s Jamaican sound.
07 The Dynamics - 90% of Me Is You.
A 2007 release, I love this record for its smooth, trip-hop beats and flow.
08 Jamiroquai - Digital Vibrations
Off their 1996 now-classic Travelling Without Moving, Jamiroquai's
digiridoo-based absolutely balls out trippy adventure into Outback
Outerspace. Low-key guitars and Aborigine digiridoos = bliss.
09 Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
A worldwide hit in 1977, this mesmerizing work has a million clubland
remixes. Has one of my all time favorite guitar build ups and riffs,
around 3:20 into the track
10 James Last - Here Comes The Sun
A beautiful beach-soaked 2015 take on the 1971 Nina Simone classic
11 Limahl - Never Ending Story
Love this 1984 synth gem produced by Giorgio Moroder. Made famous by the childhood movie of same name.
12 Inva Mula - Il Dolce Suono
Made famous by the movie Fifth Element, this absolutely mesmerizing
performance by Albanian singer Inva Mula is unforgettable. The song is
from a famous Italian opera, Lucia Di Lammermoor, "Sweet Dream". This
song gives me chills every time I hear, on par with Mozart's Duettino
Sullaria or Ave Maria.
13 Psyche - Good Bye Horses (21st Century Mix)
A 1996 dark wave remix of 1988 Q Lazzarus classic. Pure synth bliss.
14 Ben Watt - New Year of Grace
Ben Watt and Tracy Throne (Everything But the Girl) have been releasing
gold for 30 years, and this Watt's 2016 single is a haunting, beautiful
work capping their brilliant career. A perfect way to end the night.
