About me, I have been recording & mixing Latin Jazz & Salsa Gorda since 1977, I also mix Latin, house, dance classics, old school 1980's hip-hop and world music. I have also played live Latin Jazz percussion at the Blue note NYC, and at Cecil's Swingin' Latin jazz nights in Orange NJ. My musical mentors who taught me during my teenage years and in the Spanish Harlem percussion clinics include the jazz & salsa legends Ray Barretto, Tito Puente and Charlie Palmieri. I also love to play Latin percussion to just about everything especially the "Fania All-Stars", I have also mixed "salsa gorda" tunes for my brother from another mother and dear fellow friend Pedro Gomez back at Telemundo TV studios in Hato Rey PR, que viva la salsa por que aqui se formo la rumba!!!!

I began my DJ career at age 16 with one of my dad's belt drive turntables, a friend's belt drive turntable and a $90 Gemini mixer. I later got a set of 1210s and a a real mixer and went for it! In college my friend DJ Atom and I began the Ill Communications production company and started throwing raves in Santa Cruz and The SF Bay Area. I spent 5 years as the DJ for the seminal San Francisco Metal/Hip Hop band Zeromind. Playing with a live band gave me a respect for pitch and phrasing that most DJs don't have a need for. I was regularly "playing" along with the band in key with guitar samples and sound effects. Soloing on stage to hundreds of people as part of a rock band is something I will probably never replicate. Since then I have moved into the digital era and began working with software like Traktor and Ableton. I have a love for music that will never die, even though I have not been able to pursue it as my career I still regularly find myself spinning and producing tracks. If you love it, you just have to do it!

Born in august 1969, DJ Pascal has always had a true passion for music. Since a young age - let’s say as soon as he was able to hold a 7” record in his hand - he was the one at home who had to put the records on the turntable and play them. So his mum says… In the beginning there was… The radio The story starts in the Summer of 1982 when he gets the opportunity to visit the studio of a local radio station. Mesmerized by this universe, he starts to host shows on different local radios. His adventure in the world of radio stations will go on for almost 10 years. Even though it has not much to do with mixing, it really carved him out a solid musical background and knowledge. First spin... At about 15, he discovers a new sensation when friends ask him to deejay at their birthday parties. Well let’s be honest, at this point, it is closer to “play records” than mixing, really… In 1987, he contacts one of the biggest events company in Braine-l’Alleud, the city where he lives. At this time, they need deejays for all kind of events, parties, weddings, etc. So they offer him the opportunity to start working for them from time to time. And so it all begins… In da club... In the late 80’s, he gets his first experience mixing in a club, La Belle Alliance, as a replacement dj. Kind of different than mixing for private parties, just as fun but way more exciting! 1990-1992: He works for the first time as resident DJ in a club called J.C. Club in Brussels. 1994-1997: He starts to work in the club Arc-En-Ciel, near Waterloo. 1998-2001: Paradox, a gay club in Ghent. 2001-2003: L’Espace 80 (The 80’s room of the Palladium in Baisy-Thy). 2003-2004: L’EXM in Walhain. 2006 up to this day: Le Rétro in Plancenoit, near Waterloo. Along those years, he never stopped improving his skills to mix flawlessly the pure disco from the late 70’s, as well as the music from the 80’s (his teenager years!) Nevertheless, Dance, House, Deep House, Trance, Progressive or even Retro House are some of his favorite styles. Beside the exclusive edits that he realizes for his performances, DJ Pascal also started since 2013 to remix some 80’s classics and even started to compose original tracks. His Dj name comes from his profession; Neon crafter and tubular glassblower (one of the 14 in The Netherlands) & electric signmaker. He's a Dj of the 1st-generation. Dj Neonglass made his first steps in mixing on age 14 (1977),before that he was a "talking Dj" (compared with a "radio Dj'', as many Dj's where in that days) He was “working” with some friends every friday evening on a Drive-inn disco, called “Disco Skylab” in a youth centre called: “Openluchtschool” (O.L.S)”, in The Hague. They also had an illegal F.M Radio stations called “Skylab Radio, Skyline Radio,Tempo Radio”. Then he saw in a local disco called “De Marathon” the Dj mix two records together. Fortunately one of his friends knew more about mixing.He started mixing with 2 MARANTZ record players with pitch-control. Inspired by his discovery,he began to create customised pause button mixes on his big reeel taperecorder (later cassette) as he realised that certain records could be made more suitable for the dance floor, if they wen given a slight twist of extension. At the age of 16 he was asked to play at several Clubs as a guest Dj. Mixing was in that time very special and also all Clubs had "talking Dj's" in that time. One of his friends he “worked” in the Drive-inn Disco with is now known as Atlantic Ocean a.k.a Dj Lex van Coeverden (World Hit Single Waterfall & Waterfall 2009). In 1984 he stopped mixing, so he had time to found his own Neonsign- factory. After 24 years not being mixing and Dj-ing, he took some Mixing lessons in youthcentre “BAZART” also located on the grounds of the former O.L.S, the place where it in 1977 all began. When he’s started his Mixing lessons,he noticed that there was a lot of changed in the DJ equipment. He decided to quit mixing with vinyl and go for the new technological tools now like mixing with 2 CD players with pitchcontrol. Nowerday's he's a Resident Dj @ several radio stations. My toys ;) Denon DNS 3700 This cd player is the best i've used, very easy to use... I don't really understand why all the dj's only use pioneer...With them i feel the same sensation like the vinyls, and that had no prices.... Vestax PDX-D3 The most expensives turntables in 1997...but i don't regret my choice...In 2012 they are working like the first day... But...to be honest, since i've buy my denon dns, i don't use them anymore...Maybe in the future, if i'll come one day to traktor or serato. Pioneer DJM300 My old mixer...12 years old....little, simple, efficient...and no expensive.... RPDJ 1210... One of the best heaphone (for me ;))...10 years without any problems... Very strong bass...maybe a little too much... In the future.....The project.... Traktor S4 I need to follow the dj "evolution"...That what i'll buy in the next step...
