It was only 'till he got messing with some MP3 mixing software (Atomix)...........then caught the bug. Instead of going down the electronic route he managed to grab some dirt-cheap Technics SL-1210 Mk3 decks & SH-DJ1200 mixer (for a bargain £500) and was soon trawling the record shops of London and eBay tracking down those rare-as-rockinghorse-sh*t tunes! Over time (and £££s spent!) he has built up a vast & extensive collection of the very best Old Skool Garage nostalgic tunes from 1997-2002; he likes to call this the 'Golden Era'. Many, many hours of practise behind the decks gave him the skills and confidence to take the plunge and jet out to Laganas, Zante in 2005 for the entire summer to share his talent. There, he immediately gained residency in Wackabout/Sabotage Club and also DJ'd guest nights at Amnesia Nightclub, Club Black & White and Footprint Beach Bar. Since his return he has played out at various bars/clubs and private functions around London & Surrey such as Wimbledon, Croydon and Clapham. Apart from Old Skool Garage, he specialises in and Funky/Disco/Electro House which has mainly been driven by his passion for anything Hed Kandi – he owns a massive collection of their CD compilations dating back since 2004. His funky house collection on vinyl ranges from 1999-Present though! Donny always has the crowd in mind and endeavours to give them what they want to hear. He loves to know his music inside-out so can drop tunes at the perfect spot to keep them jumping all night. Music-wise he is pretty versatile; he can also mix Trance and Drum & Bass. His partner in crime Mike Chadwick is also somewhat of a master around the decks who specialises in HipHip and R&B of all years so, together will always have something in their boxes for the masses! Mikey G, notorious for his hard-hitting, unique sets, is a DJ from Birmingham, now living in Leicester, UK. Mikey grew up listening to a wide variety of dance music and was heavily influenced by the bass heavy music being played around the midlands. He gained a huge interest in Drum & Bass, Garage and Speed Garage. Having been to hundreds of dance events, he decided to learn to DJ himself and began honing his skills, and was soon booked to play at local club nights. He started playing at various Drum & Bass events around the UK and supported numerous big name DJ’s across the scene. He became interested in ‘Jackin House’ and ‘House & Bass’, new styles of music giving a fresh twist on the Garage tunes he grew up listening to. He began DJ’ing at events regularly across the Midlands and as his popularity grew, so did his busy Dj’ing schedule - which is now frequently jam-packed, playing for many various club nights in the House and D&B scene. In August 2015 Mikey was asked to play at the closing party at Summerfest, a world leading skydive event in Chicago USA. After delivering a 6hr non-stop marathon set, he didn't disappoint! Mikey regularly posts live mixes on his Soundcloud page which have gained a large world-wide audience and are eagerly anticipated by many. I Started to Dj @ the age of 18, mainly interested in house music & the sound of that day,(yes im an 80's kid) I progressed into different genres such as funky house, speed garage, bassline house, electo, jackin, electro line & classics, Ny first encounter as a DJ was with a set of Technics 1210's then went on to master CD's I still like to crack out the vinyl when I can as you can't beat the sound of it... My Real Mainstay has always been House, I feel that it the one Genre that is universal, Regardless of what Subgenre it decides to morph itself into next week it still gets my hairs on end when I hear a good track. As for my Favourite Track of all time it has to be Twintown - ROKIT, That track fucks me over everytime I hear it. Ive always tried to keep at the top of my game with the tracks that i choose to play, not a one for your commercial chart, I couldn't tell you a single song that is currently in the charts (bad I Know) Managed to hold down a few residency's over the years in my Old Stopmping Ground Of the Midlands and I managed to create a decent following along the way for the sound that i rock out, currently looking for opportunites in the North West Feel free to ask away
