It all started back in 1990 with The Happy Mondays & Stone Roses. Rave was still underground & Illegal The sound was fresh. It all started when I listened to a mixtape a mate was listenin to he said have a listen to this. I soon started to search for pirate stations around my local area, MIX FM, FRESH FM (Leicester) & KOOL FM (Birmingham). Has I got more into the music I thought I would have a go at DJin so brought myself a pair of soundlab belt drives & a numark mixer & buy my vinyl from 5HQ. In 2009 I thought I would have a go at producin my own tracks. UNDER CONTRUCTION

Roy started listening to electronic music in the late 90s. At that time he was mainly into trance and brakes. Then one night he went to a show the State Palace Theater where he watched DJ John Kelly perform, thats when Roy found his passion for house music. In 1998 Roy landed his first residence at a club called The Balcony. Roy was known for hyping up the crowd all night long while improving his technical skills. After playing at The Balcony for about a year, he started looking for a bigger crowd. At that point Roy went to Florida and played with the production company Stimulas. After playing along side some of the most respected DJs in the world, Roy decided to bring his style of tribal music to his hometown of Slidell. Once he was back home, Roy helped start a production company named Statik. Thats where all the fun began. Throwing two to three shows a week, Roy was being heard of and respected through the entire south. You can catch him performing at many hot spots throughout Louisiana.

I got into electronic music right after High School. (Honestly truth be told I have always been into it when you include groups like NIN and Gravity Kills, to name a few, but I didn't find dance music until post High School)... I went to my first club in 1999, and saw DJ Monk (co-founder of the group Rabbit in the Moon). And he was just too wicked, mixing records, scratching, adding effects, I watched him and watched him, he never stopped moving, he was always doing something tweaking this, adding that. It was an awesome show to watch and hear. I heard and saw all this and I was hooked. I knew I wanted to spin right away, and I had dreams as high as the sky, imagining seeing the world, and meeting new people, and playing in venues in places I never even knew existed. That never happened, but I'm okay with that, I played some open decks and did a few house parties, but mostly I just did what I did, because I enjoyed doing it. When someone asks me for a hero Monk is still the first name that pops into my mind, he introduced me to one of my biggest passions, all thanks to one night all those years ago. I went out bought a Numark all in one package, not long after I had been consumed by the scene and used it awhile until I realized what crap I had, belt drive tables and mixer with a crossfader that jumped in and out as I was mixing. I eventually replaced all that with the setup I currently have which is a pair of Stanton STR8-100's and a Denon DN-X800, later on; I also purchased a Denon DN-F2600 dual disc CD player, which have recently been replaced with a pair of Stanton c.314's. I use Ortofon Concorde Elektro needles and Denon HD-1000 headphones, and I couldn't be more pleased with my setup. I bought the STR8-100's when they very first came out, and the reason I did was because I had become very attached to the key correction function of the CD player, and I thought it would be awesome to have it on my tables too. Unfortunately the key correction on the model I got never really worked all that well, it creates this funny reverb effect. It is so overpowering it is difficult to tell which beat was the real one, and it makes it hard to mix, so I never use it. However, in my opinion the motors are at very least very comparable to 1200's, so I have never really had the desire to replace them. Except for maybe with one of the new model 150's, only because I hear they finally got the key correction to function properly, the 150’s are supposed to have even more torque, but like I said before, the torque on mine is fine. I don’t scratch so super high torque tables are not a necessity for me, so I will run with my 100’s until they die. All of that is really moot anyway, while I still have my tables and can still use them, I rarely do. Most of the time I use my digital setup, which consists of a Denon MC6000, a pair of Kontrol F1s, Maschine, a Kaoss Pad Quad, and Traktor. I enjoy a very wide range of music, and if you listen to my sets, you'll rarely hear me play an entire set of single genre, most of the time it is three or four different genres. And what I enjoy most with the digital setup, is that I have so much more music at my disposal, and it is a lot more accessible that trying to thumb through a thousand records. My style of mixing has evolved a great deal since switching to digital as well, so much so that I don't enjoy traditional mixing as much anymore either, I use a lot of cue points and loops in my mixes, and you can't do that with vinyl. I suppose you could with Traktor Scratch and set of Dicers, but I don't really see the point considering that that I don’t scratch, nor do I have any real desire to. It doesn't really fit what I do.Life moves quickly, and life had more responsibilities than my teenage dreams allowed for, and I wound up settling down. I got married and had a couple of kids and mixing kind of took a backseat for a few years... …Fast forward to a few years ago, I got my hands on an iPod and started jamming out to my tunes again, because it was all so easily accessible, which in turn made want to mix again, but I still rarely found the time to do it. Until I got my hands on a copy of Virtual DJ, and I got all pumped up. I started recording mixes. I was rejuvenated all over again. Not that I really have aspirations for a worldwide tour anymore, but simple act of blending one track into another was as exciting as it was the first time I did it, and I was having a lot of fun doing it. So, I kept at it, and made some new like minded friends. I got picked up on Gremlin Radio a few months after I started mixing again, and I have been there ever since. I love it; we have a very cool group of people contributing to the station. I've been there since 2011, and don't plan on going anywhere. I was recently made an administrator for the station as well, my main role is to set up their streams when they join the station, but I also look for new DJs to join our ranks amongst other things as well. So if you interested send me a PM, or find me on Facebook or something, just find a way to get me your demo. I'm always scouting for new talent to join our collaborative. Currently we have around 40 DJ’s in the fold, but we are looking to have live DJs 24/7. Anyhow, I can ramble on and on, but in the end we are all here for the same reason, we love music... Take a listen to my sets, and let me know what you think, good or bad. All comments will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks for stopping by and checking me out and I hope you enjoy what you hear... >>> Peace.Love.Unity.Respect <<<
