DJ-Trademark
DJ-Trademark

Having been established from the early days of the rave scene (and by the way, owning a record collection that most people could only dream of), we shouldn’t typecast Trademark into just a Drum & Bass DJ, far from it, yes he is a well known figure within the Drum & Bass community his unique DJ sets have sent him around over the globe but when it comes to a good tune no matter the genre you can bet your bottom dollar he’s got it. His love of the music, the scene and his unique ability to play eclectic sets covering a whole spectrum of dance music, Trademark has to be one of the most exciting DJ’s on the scene at the moment. His versatility to drop killer Drum & Bass sets right through to Old School classics has helped him gain a legion of fans ten times over. To sum up Trademark, well we can only really describe him as one thing, an out and out DJ. His passion is to play music and to entertain, this drives him, he’s not in it for the fame and fortune, he’s in it because he loves it. It’s as easy as that. He made his first tentative forays into the music world in the punk era of the late 70s. After singing with a few anarcho punk bands, during which he gigged around the UK and appeared on vinyl a few times in the early-mid 80s with Hex, he acquired a cheap synth/keyboard just in time for the acid-house Summer of Love, and began making underground electronic music. His tunes were inspired by the techno end of the early house scene (Model 500 etc.), the trippy psychedelia he’d grown to love (Gong, Hillage, Hawkwind, Hendrix, Zappa, Led Zep etc.) and the harder edge of his old political punk favourites (Crass, Conflict, Subhumans, Flux of Pink Indians etc.), and he went on to DJ at a few parties in the early 90s when he was heavily into the rave/old-skool-hardcore scene (before it lost the dark breaks vibe and became all ‘happy’), but was unable to pursue mixing/production very far back then due to ‘adverse’ circumstances. In the mid 90s he took a change of direction and got into writing. He moved to Crewe for 2 years of a Humanities degree at a faculty of Manchester Met Uni, majoring in Creative Writing, with an elective in Film Studies (which influenced his next change of direction), where he enjoyed a spell of performing poetry (as he had done in Hex as well as singing) before he was kicked out for partying too much. In the late 90s, after a couple of lean years back in Sunderland, he moved to Leeds where he graduated from the Northern Film School and was involved in the making of numerous films, including his own feature-lengthed documentary “No Blood for Oil”, which documented the protests leading up to, and during the 2nd Gulf War with Iraq: Crass donated 2 tracks free of charge to a film that he lovingly crafted the soundtrack for with electronic music from his old Sunderland friend in Leeds, Steve Brown. It headlined the Leeds International Film Festival underground film event in 2001(?). In the mid-late ‘noughties’, he returned to the music scene to make live gig videos for local acts/venues/promoters to use on-line. Then he began making underground electronic music again, using his cinematic skills to make his own no-budget ‘promo’ vids. Close friends with local punk/ska/dub/hip-hop/d&b outfit China Shop Bull (then Fulibulbus), he went on tour with them to make a feature-lengthed tour documentary, and followed it up with several others. In 2010, he signed up with Putz Records of Rio de Janeiro for the electronic release of his “Quantum Quandary” minimal techno EP, and signed a contract for a feature film script he can’t say anything more about until it goes into production. As well as producing, DJing, filmmaking, and writing, he promotes gigs for local music-related community causes (Unity Day, RPCC, Oblong, Cloth Cat), and helps run the weekly Fenton Boogie open-mic/jam at The Fenton, Leeds. His recent musical output encapsulates numerous genres/sub-genres: hard, minimal and acid techno, tech-house, old/nu skool and ambient breaks, d&b/jungle, dubstep, dark and dirty electro, etc. The 2 tracks from the EP can be bought via Juno downloads, whilst up to now, and a couple are on compilation Lps, the rest of his 160+ tracks and mixes are all available on-line as free downloads.

Hi, I'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends! I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest DJ's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelley's, Institute and Coast 2 Coast. After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!! Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought I'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know..... Favourite DJ's. Carl Cox, Sasha, Ellis Dee, Stu Allan, Ratty, Tango, Ray Keith, Mark Archer. Clubs. Eclipse, Shelley's, Institute, Coast 2 Coast

Exit-Point
Exit-Point

Exit Point's passion for the music began in the early 90s, a fan of the Madchester sound of The Stone Roses & Happy Mondays, from here, his musical tastes shifted to the underground Rave sounds of the mid 90's after being introduced to a mixtape by a friend. This led to Exit becoming an avid listener of the local pirate stations, Mix FM, Fresh FM (Leicester) & Kool FM (Birmingham). This keenness further led Exit to take up DJ'ing, initially with a pair of Soundlab belt drives & a Numark mixer. Exit got into the Jungle sound in 1994 and would buy his vinyl from the legendary 5HQ shop in Leicester.

a dj for 10 years, started out playing bassline house/speed garage on the good old vinyl back in 2002 but due to the addition of kids and a move to the coast this has forced me down the digital road, as i have no space to put equipment. Now i use cd and pc with controller. I have played on a couple of online radio stations ( www.247house.fm ) where i played every sunday between 3-5pm, i played a bit of a mixed genre set basicly playing anything with either a nice vocal, organ, bassline etc wasn't realy set on a genre as long as it had a nice feel to it i played it, i also played on LOCO'S FM back in 20004-5 which was just utter live madness haha mic, shouts, vinyl, beer, a house full, loud music and ultimately A FRIGGIN EVICTION HAHAHA. These days as above I play a mix of genre's, all focused around the bassline scene. But obviously a bit more up to date so get following, likeing, favouriting, d/loading ETC my mixes but most of all enjoy the tunage.
