Rules
In order to compete, you need to follow these simple rules:
- Genre: Trance Main Floor (includes the sub-genres Uplifting-, Vocal-, Tech-, Progressive- and Hard Trance)
- Name: Trance Competition 2023
- Primary Tag / Genre: Trance
- Additional Tags: Trance Competition 2023 (Important!)
- Length: Approximately 30 minutes (not over 35 minutes and no less than 25 minutes).
- Include an accurate tracklist.
- Only 1 entry per person.
- Use the cover art provided.
- Be creative and pay attention to what the judges are looking for!
- Once you submitted your mix you can't re-do it and submit again.
If your mix doesn't match the rules, the judges will exclude it in their evaluation.
So please read the rules carefully before you submit your entry.
HOW THE JUDGING WORKS:
The competition will comprise of 2 segments.
Advancement from round 1 will be determined by our special jury and they will choose 5 mixes that stands out. Those 5 semi-finalists will be presented on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/housemixespage and on Telegram https://t.me/housemixesgroup before they move on to the next and final stage.
Top 3 placements of round 2 will be determined by our guest judge along with reasons why those 3 are the best mixes.
The judges will be looking & scoring on:
- Track selection
- Mixing techniques
- Creativity
- Progression
- Technical abilities

Special Guest Judge Nicholson
London born & bred producer Carl Nicholson has been tirelessly perfecting his musical craft for well over two decades now. Starting in the era of the acid house boom, Nicholson was on the forefront of the UK underground dance scene since the early nineties. He established himself by learning and performing alongside industry figureheads like Tony de Vit, Fatboy Slim, Paul van Dyk and more.
Fast forward to 2013, Nicholson decided to switch gears and test his hand in the fast-growing world of trance music. Over the course of the past five years, he has soared to new heights under his trance alias. He has garnered support from the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and many more.
His name has appeared across the Beatport Top 10 chart multiple times, including earning the number one spot with track 'Melody', which was released on Ferry Corsten's Flashover Recordings & his recent remix of the Jam & Spoon classic 'Right In The Night' on Blackhole Recordings. Additionally, Carl's album 'Glorious' earned the number one album spot on Beatport in 2019. In addition to Nicholson's mesmerizing trance records, he performs as a resident DJ for the Flotation parties at Egg London and recently launched his own recording studio 'EQ' based in Surrey, UK.
