Another session amongst the myriad gems of old skool today: starting out with Coldcut from 1988 - here as Sweet Tooth Sonny and a precursor track to their mainstream cross-over work with Yazz, "Stepper" is simple, straight ahead early English acid house... and good too.
Speaking of good, another great rework by Melbourne's Max Dodge here, this time of 808 State; very hard to compete with the original, but Max puts in a steller effort.
"Vernon's Wonderland" was one of trance's first anthems, but while we quickly tired of it, the longer underground remix by Sven Väth himself remains a valid journey into deep euro techno of the early 90s - even if I did have to pitch it down somewhat. Then there's "Moribund" from Volume 4 of Frank De Wulf's B-Sides; this EP sees Frank at a creative peak, leaving Kraftwerk samples behind in favour of his own keyboard and arranging skills. The set finishes off with with a couple of mixes of "88 To Piano", a big tune from '91 - but one that is best experienced in small doses these days.
Finally, another guest mix from Holland's Kelvin Hulsebos to finish off the show. Starts off a bit manic with Moby, but moves into some uptempo progressive house and finishes off nicely with "Alchemy (Phasers On Dub)" by The Drum Club.
