BIOGRAPHY
Ally Mac is a man who needs little introduction if you have had any contact with the world of Dance music in the last 2 decades. Originating from the coastal town of Ayr, on Scotlands West Coast,and being involved since the age of 17, Djing early Disco and Funk, his inspiration and involvement deepened,with the arrival of “Chicago House” on the Uk’s shore late in 1985, with the result of him organising and playing at large scale club events, bringing legends like Farley Jackmaster Funk,and Darryl Pandy (the early pioneers of the Chicago sound) to venues in Scotland and in doing so helped break house music into the UK very early on and being one of the true pioneers of the UK dance scene.
With a name synonimous of “firsts” under his belt, his reputation started to grow, starting with the ground breaking club, “The Videodrome” in Glasgow, hailed as the first specifically built Venue in the World, utilising Video as the Dj’s playback medium, with over 60 large scale TV Monitors to mix on. incorporating early Dance promotional videos and bespoke designed Graphics. Having built up a following around Scotland with his unique sound of house, which still was to become mainstream, He gained legendary residencies in “Toledo Junction” both in Ayr, his home town & Paisley, The Warehouse (Gasgow) Tin Pan Alley (Glasgow) Henri Afrikas (Glasgow) His efforts in music turned to production in the mid nineties, and after gaining a Degree at the globally respected School of Audio Engineering (S.A.E Institute), a career in producing seem to be the logical way for a man who had accomplished all that Djing could throw at him.
Ally Mac is the man behind, and responsible for creating , the world renowned hard dance act “ Public Domain”. A band who need no introduction in dance culture, having spawned mammoth hits such as “Operation Blade-Bass in the place London” ....THE biggest selling Dance single of 2001, released on Xtravaganza records / Sony Music' specially launched sister label Xtrahard.
Selling in Excess of 3,000,000 singles and unbelievably licenced to 220 Compilation Albums worldwide. becoming multi platinum all over the world, from the U.K to Australia. In the process creating a new genre of dance music - “Hard Hop” a fusion of Hip Hop vocals and hard driving beats, the reputation of an explosive live show, creating the beast that led every large scale Dance event globally, Including headlining appearances at Ericsson Homelands (Scotland & England), Slinky (UK) Planet Love (Ireland) Coloursfest (UK) Hollands 90,000 Dance Valley (Europe's LARGEST outdoor event),The Carling Reading & Leeds Festivals ,The worlds largest Night Club Priveledge In Ibiza,"The Dome" Germany (back to back Appearances),and Television appearances on the MTV Network all over the world, The Rapture Television Network, VIVA TV, Top Of The Pops (UK & Germany) The PEPSI CHART Show (UK & Australia) Gatecrasher N.E.C April 2001,which was most notably the first ever Live Club Event broadcast on the Sky Network ! , to over 100 million people…….Culminating at the Alexandria Palace in London for the Finale of the Tiscali World Dancestar Awards 2002, an appearance that is still broadcast and talked about in the industry today.

Outwith their reputation as the best “Live Act in Dance Music “ New Music Express. (N.M.E) And the "Best New Act since The Prodigy", (The Guardian ) Ally and the guys firmly put their mark into a new style of Club Music, On Their second single they recruited none other, than the Legend, Chuck D, from Hip Hop pioneers Public Enemy. Combining some Old Skool Flava and thumping beats, they offered to the world “Rock The Funky Beats”, emerging as the track which helped give Hip Hop mainstream credibility in the worldwide Dance charts.
Having toured, remixed and performed consistently for over 4 years, Ally decided to leave Public Domain behind, " Being in a band is like a marriage, and I needed a divorce" He laughs, He is now focused on his own projects, and his own style of house...diversify his talents, most notably creating DiscoWorx Records and his Force Majeure Online Record Store, now becoming One of Polands best new & second hand vinyl Music stores.
Ally has a remix list spreading right across the spectrum of club music: Dance diva Rozalla, A.T.B, Yves Deruyter, Flickman, Native, Toxen ,and Plaything to name but a few. Having remixed for some of the worlds most sucessful Record labels such as Manifesto ,Edel (ger) Ministry of Sound, Incentive Records, Bonzai, Mostiko, Club Tools, Redemption, Inferno, Avex records(japan), Y2K, and EastWest Records(GmbH)......amongst others.
He has led a new dance culture, and carved out a respected career as a Dj, Sound Engineer, Producer AND Artist, no mean feat, and selling over 3 million records along the way, receiving many accolades and awards on the journey, Most notably to become the first ever Artist AND also Writer to receive the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters Guild “Chart Newcomers Award” in 2001, an achieivement never to be repeated as both artist and writer in the Universal Music Awards Premier Showcase event.
Having tried to exploit the “Pigeon Holing” of the last two decade's of dance music by the worlds media, one of his most notable quotes is “There are only two types of Dance Record……a good one or a bad one, psychadelictriphousegabbatrancedublues just doesn’t ring ANY bells in the studio mate” Mixmag 2001…..
Now based in Poland, and working on a new forthcoming album for Discoworx Records, also bringing a new direction for Polish dance music, being one of the few DJ's in Eastern Europe playing Soulful,Twisted and downright funky House & Disco,and having hosted his own" DJ Nights Tour" on MTV Polska, and a resident for Heineken's massive "GreenZone" tour and festival, the largest of its kind in Eastern Europe,
Ally is firmly going back to his roots of heavily disco influenced house music both in the studio, and in his Dj sets. "Disco House is back with a new flavour!!"
His new album is scheduled for release spring 2010 on DiscoWorx Records.
