This is my entry for House-Mixes's February 2016 House Competition. I hope you guys enjoy!
COMPOSITION: Mainly Future House in the beginning. Deep/Future House throughout the middle. The end is Progressive with slight Electro House.
EDITING: Build the Cities (Rootkit Remix) is edited to enhance flow. Normally, a small pause is before its drop.
DESCRIPTION/TALE: I've been a fan of EDM since roughly 2011. Granted, that's not exactly a really long time, but compared to some other, more professional DJs in this competition, I have not been on this planet for much longer. I have spent the majority of my development as a human being listening to EDM music, House Music included.
As such, I tried to compose this mix as a sort of journey. To me, this mix stands for life, love, and happiness. It represents a story of where I have been and a vision of where I want to be. I try to feel a connection to music, and especially so in this mix.
I would also like to point out I am a hobbyist. This means I make each of my DJ mixes in my spare time. In addition, I use software that is not traditionally made to create mixes. Most here, I imagine, mix live or use some software on their computer to make a mix within thirty minutes. I use a program called Audacity, which is little more than a music editing software. My main inspiration for mixing comes from the Never Say Die label. Those artists, including Eptic, SKisM, and Habstrakt, make their "Never Say Die" mixes using DAWs like Ableton and Reason to promote their newest releases.
I guess what I am saying is I want to be a producer, rather than a traditional DJ. At my young age, that might not be the most feasible option and it could be what they call "wishful thinking," but I still have a lot of life to live and decide whether or not I want to embark on this path.
This is my journey. The 15 songs packed into this 28-minute mix represent stages in my life. As such, this mix means quite a bit to me. I'd love it if it could win. But if it doesn't, I'll at least be happy to be along for the ride.
