Whitney!!! When she broke out in the 80's, her voice was considered one of the greatest to come along in years.

She achieved major radio and club airplay with her catchy, upbeat dance tracks. But her real forte was ballads. All of the emotion and feeling poured into her slow songs helped to cement her reputation as one of the greatest voices of her generation (or for that matter, any other).

Here is an example of what I mean. Two ballads, from her first two Arista album releases. 'All At Once' from Whitney Houston and 'Didn't We Almost Have It All' from Whitney. I have edited the two tracks together to create one, long ballad. This edit captures all of the raw emotion and power that she could put into a song.
