With only days to go till Christmas Day 2018 I thought it fitting to release
this remix I've been working on for the past few weeks.

I've
always avoided remixing George, as I am a HUGE fan, and was terrified of
tackling one of my idols, but after hearing so many terrible covers and
remixes of this track I thought as a fan, I'd have a crack at it, as
not only a gift to the fans and his memory, but also to challenge myself
as a producer.

I've gone full on 80s S Y N T H W A V E with this
one, drenched in as much neon and sparkle as I could manage, the
original is fun and 80s and I wanted to respect that (anyone expecting
some dark Techno I apologise!)

I really hope you like it, a lot of
passion has gone into this one, and I hope it serves as a tribute to
the man himself, especially with the unfortunate timing of his death on
Christmas Day.

Production notes:
==============

*As
no acapella exists I had to use a very raw version that I extracted
from a number of versions of the original track, if I could get my hands
on the original that be a DREAM, so I'm aware the quality of the vocals
are only 50% of what they could be.

*The hats are replayed exactly from the original patterns, using the 808 and LinnDrum.

*The kick pattern is my own but uses the original LinnDrum

*The snare is the exact pattern from the original using the LinnDrum, right down to the verse and chorus variations.

*The keys and chords are a mixture of the Juno 106 synth from the original, and some more modern vsts to add some girth

*
the bass is a blend of the Juno 106 and Nexus VST, with some guitar amp
saturation, and Roland Dimension D chorus VST to give an 80s feel.

*most
of the blending and production was done via SSL compressor emulations,
as I wanted to keep a retro feel, and the end result was fed through a
tape emulation plugin to give it some more warmth.

*the cover art
is taken from one of the covers from 1984, with a synthwave style
backdrop added. The logo and text uses the same font from the 1986 'The
Final' album and the colour band is taken from the same album.

*finally I added a little sample of George at the end as a tribute to all the fans out there 💖

Merry Christmas everyone
