He was born in South Africa and with South Africa as his homeland, he was influenced by the rhythmic sounds of drums. The genres he plays are Tribal, Tech, Latin and Deep House. His influences comes from Dj's like Chus, David Herrero, Robbie Taylor, David Penn, Rob Mirage, Coqui Selection. A Florida, USA born dj/producer with a love and passion for music and dancing. Starting his dj career at only 17 years old he was sold on the house Jack built. Most any type of four on the floor would do it for him, however his deepest roots stemmed from the dark tribal rhythms with influences like Steve Lawler, Danny Tenaglia, & the chugging sound of Chus. Now after a long progression he incorporates everything from tribal, to tech house, electro to progressive. Mixing in funky garage basslines, and uplifiting vocals... the chunkier, the quirkier, the better! He has been known to experiment with everything from twisted techno, to even the dirtiest of dubstep. Always evolving and progressing is the rule. If you don't like it, turn it off. Otherwise feel free to turn it up!

He has not much in the bio except for the love of music. He is Cape Town born and bred in the disco era. A love of music has made it possible for him to grow into crossing the genre boudary. Although his love remains in the disco and soul genres, he expanded into many sub genres which now includes tech house, latin and afro house and even so much as melodic house and techno at times. Residing in the Netherlands for the past 14 years and fully adapted to a different culture and lifestyle and music genres. If anything can unite people it is MUSIC! I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically.
