Since I was very young like 7yrs old, I remember being pulled by music sounds and mixes they did in the 70s,but in 83' all it took was for my friend to lend me his turntables and boom box, started DJn in 85 and the rest has been a wonderful trip in the mix. Bboying and Chicago house trax became my influence while living in the U.S. Now, here in my country of Guatemala City in Central America, I will continue getting on the ones and twos and produce, as well as help or collaborate with whomever is interested in working with me. It is with a heavy heart I have decided to retire from "paid" Dj work. I have had over 30 years in the game and have played to 10 people and a club at capacity of over 5000. Greenbins career as a DJ stretches right back to warehouse parties that brought about a cultural revolution in the North of the UK in the late 80s and early 90s. He was a regular DJ at those parties, and also a resident DJ at a small, but legendary club in Blackburn called Monroes in 1990-91. From Monroes other residencies and guest spots soon followed at venues such as Sequins, Zone and Jooce in Blackpool, Angels in Burnley, Manhattan Heights and Peppermint Place in Blackburn, Quadrant Park in Liverpool, Revenge Parties, Blackburn warehouse parties, 808 State Show on Sunset FM, Maximes in Wigan, Manhattans in Southport to name just a handful. Greenbins was also an original resident DJ on Friday nights with DJ Welly at the Pleasuredrome, and was also to feature heavily when the night was moved to Trafford Park and became Life @ Bowlers. I've been DJing on the UK House scene since 1993 (and for 2 years on the "rave" scene before that) and over the past 30+ years I've been fortunate enough to play for some of THE biggest and most established clubs and promoters around the globe, including bookings for the likes of Defected, Glitterbox, Mission, Garlands, FunkDelux, Hed Kandi, Dirtyfunk, Miss Moneypennys, The Gallery, Escucha, Head, Ministry Of Sound, Venus, Housexy, Hard Times, Xstatic, Progress, Fantazia, Xstatic, and many many more. Not to mention 2 seasons and countless trips out to Ibiza, Marbella and beyond to play for the likes of Es Paradis, Hed Kandi, Pacha, Kanya, Plastic, Itaca, Garlands, Blowin' Up, Ocean Beach, Mode and Zoo, and festival appearances at Xstatic, GFest and Lowdown. I am currently resident DJ for UK House promoters Housexy, and Glitteratti. I host a monthly guest mix on Cyprus based ROCKFM (3rd Friday of every month,8-10 UK time) which goes out on FM radio right across mainland and eastern Europe, as well as via the internet, and I also have a weekly radio show every Monday on sublimesounds.com (8-10pm UK time), not to mention regular guest slots on internet and FM radio stations all around the globe, from Australia to Brazil to Tokyo to Finland, and of course, the UK. In 2015 I won the House-Mixes Soulful House mix competition, which opened a lot of doors and gave me a huge amount of media interest around the globe. I've previously done a guest mix for Defected In The House radio, and 2 for Hed Kandi radio. In 2016 I took step back from DJing to focus on family life, getting married, children etc -y k'now, all the normal grown up stuff - and returned to live club DJing in 2019 after being offered a residency at Mono.... and I've been there pretty much ever since. It's great because they love my sound and believe in what i do, they give me the freedom to play the Disco House sound I love, when many other promoters are tending to favor darker techier sounds for their dancefloors. But the queues at the door each week show that people still love the Funky Disco House sound, and it's still got a massive army of fans who want something more soulful on their weekends. Even though I'm just starting out on my DJing journey again It's great to be back doing what I love and having the opportunity to play to a crowd, I really missed that interaction you only get with a live crowd. The scene itself may be more competitive than ever before, but its also more creative, and i like that, I love the fact that I can express myself through my music and creativity. 2023 is looking to be my busiest year yet, with DJ bookings and media interest building up nicely, and lots of international booking interest.
