De’skee
Born and raised in Bayside, Queens New York, De’skee (Derrick Crumpley) began his music journey at age of 11, under the tutelage of his cousin Kevin and quickly fell in love with the art form. He enjoyed listening to his cousin’s music collection of Break Beats, Club Music, Disco and 80s Pop Music … infused with his deep affection for both Hip-Hop and House Music. His first performances were doing backyard parties for his grandparents. In 1986, De’skee relocated to Frankfurt, Germany where his joined his first DJ crew, the Body Snatchers. Well-respected in the military and local nightclubs communities, he soon caught the attention of producers, developed a paper bag label and later signed a recording contract with RCA Music.
De’skee scored three hits on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart: two number-ones from 1990 ("Let There Be House" and "Dance Dance") and a top 20 hit in 1991 ("Kid Get Hyped", peaking at number 11). De’skee's singles also charted in the UK, where "Let There Be House" peaked at number 52, and "Dance, Dance" reached number 74 in the UK Singles Chart, 1 Spain, Italy and Japan.
