Around 2017/18, at one of his Meltdowns, Manik gave away an MP3 stick with all (or at least most) of his tunes to date. It stayed in a drawer until last year, when I finally pulled it out and started flicking through them vinyl-style, like we used to do back in the day with a pile of tunes at your favourite record shop, touching here and there, discarding some, then picking out the ones where you could hear something. It was great fun. I dropped them all into a folder, then mixed them that night.

What I love about this mix is how much it highlights just how good Manik is, and always has been. He’s so well known for banging Hard House, and this mix definitely gets there, but it’s a full journey: from almost techno at the start, to trance, to hard trance, and finally into banging monsters. If you only really know him for his HH, this could be a bit of an eye-opener. And what I love most is that this is what he was doing at least seven years ago (or longer). If you haven’t checked out his new stuff… imagine what he’s producing now! :)
