Laurent Graux, aka Dj for the masses, was born on July 5, 1973 in the carnival town of Binche. Known in his early days as Dj Lidgé, Laurent was soon immersed in the world of music and the arts. Born to an opera singer and actor father, he grew up alongside his opera singer and pianist sister. But it was above all the folklore of his hometown that awakened his sense of festivity and his passion for the nightlife. Over the years, the sound of the drums echoing through the streets and alleys of his city accentuated his sense of rhythm and what soon became a real passion: music, and more particularly electronic music. From the age of 7, his ears were exposed to all kinds of music and musical trends. Classical music by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Ravel and Mozart marked his childhood. But it was above all Richard Wagner's soaring Valkyrie that marked him and remained a benchmark for him. Later in life, Laurent moved on to pop music, with Michael Jackson's stage shows whetting his curiosity for the stage. The synthesizers of Jean Michel Jarre and the brilliantly orchestrated soundtracks of cult films by Eric Serra, Hans Zimmer and Angelo Badalamenti also caught his ear. These various musical currents led Laurent to discover new sounds, diverse emotions and particular sensibilities... But it was above all under the influence of Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Kraftwerk that the obvious became clear.
