Bio
Self taught DJ Martin Leguerrier started DJing when he was 14 years old in 1996 doing small private events in the town of Fort-Coulonge Quebec. His father would drive him to the events since he was too young to have his driver's licence. In 1998, a successful DJ Patrick Bertrand, owner of Disco Intense Enr. hired him to do bigger events such as weddings, public teen dances, graduations, after-grads and festivals. He also started DJing in bars and clubs.
In 2000, Martin bought Patrick Bertrand's DJ business and became an independent business man. His first year in business was a struggle after getting very few DJ contracts. Everything changed in 2001 when he started working at Ronny's as a resident disc jockey. People quickly started discovering Martin's talent for filling a dancefloor. His popularity boomed and Ronny's clientele almost doubled after 4 months of residency. In 2003, Ronny's closed it's doors for uncontrolable reasons, leading him to choose another hotspot. Percy's was his next destination, where he had the best business offer. Percy's clientele almost tripled the first month after having Martin on the decks. He was then interviewed by Benjamin Segobaetso, a journalist from Le journal du Pontiac about his success in the DJ business, qualifying him as the Pontiac region's most reputable DJ.
After breaking the ice in the Pontiac area, the successful DJ expanded his territory to the Nation's Capital, to work in some of the most popular clubs in 2003 such as Willy's, La Warta and Icon, with DJs Trip, Frank (from 104.1 FM CKTF) and DJ Josee Leonard. In 2004, Martin held a residency at Paradox night club and became popular in the Ottawa hip-hop scene, and was DJing at Icon for the gay scene mostly into house and dance music. In 2005, the DJ partnered with Josee Leonard and Robin Duetta to open Level 2 nightclub, after the closing of Icon. Leguerrier was unsuccessful and had to step back from the business. He then worked at Pink nightclub with DJs Josee Leonard and Jamie C (from Hot 89.9 FM), where he appeared live on OutTv for Capital Pride 2005. He also spun at Lookout for the famous Thirsty Boy Thursdays, Helsinky, Eighteen and L'Enfer (Croco). In 2006, he vibed the famous Silver Coors Light Boat Cruises with Radio Energie 104.1 FM.
Martin then dived in the club scene of Ottawa in full strenght at Edge club. Now known as the leading DJ in the gay scene of Ottawa, he has now thousands of fans across the Nation's Capital and the Pontiac after DJing at some of Ottawa's biggest events, with crowds reaching up to 35 000 people. He worked along side Billy Steele (New York), Lance (New York-Sky), Robert Ouimet (Montreal-Sky), Stephane Lippé (Montreal-Parking-Black & Blue), and local successful DJs such as Isabelle Béchamp (Lookout-Edge-BPM), Terry Bevvan (Sunrise-BPM-Heaven), Jumpin' Jim (Edge), Ashley Gauthier (Sunrise-Heaven) and Chris Murray (Sunrise).
His vision is that DJs are the musicians of the future, with the advent of technology and the fact that youths are more into electronic music.
DJ Martin Leguerrier now holds the Friday night residency at Edge club in Ottawa. He also streams his own show on danceradio.ca called Xposed, bringing new vibes and fresh upbeat versions of retro songs.
