Medley
AKA Dj Medley AKA Matt Medley AKA Medley Makes Moves - started
deejaying nightclubs in early 2001. The word "Medley" not only
encompasses his genre bending style but it is also his real last name.
Medley started deejaying in the vinyl days, he is no stranger to lugging
crates and dusty needles. Over the years has adapted to the digital
world and kept on the forefront of technology. His niche in Electro, House, Dubstep, Trap, Moombahton... pretty much anything EDM and worthy of the big rooms he plays.
He has been holding his own at some of the best spots in a city where
you can't throw a rock without hitting a DJ, a city that is notoriously
known as the screwface capitol of the world, a city that is home to the
worlds biggest artists of the last decade in music, Toronto. He has set
himself apart from the masses of DJs with his hundreds of mashups,
re-edits, remixes and epic mixtapes. His material has spread the
Internet's blog-o-sphere time and time again.
Live, his mixing
is smooth and complex. He's ridiculously on top of music. You can be
sure to hear the latest, newest, genre blending tracks during one of his
club nights... and lots of remixes. Medley's main tools used in
deejaying are Serato, Pioneer DJM series mixers, Pioneer CDJs, Technic
1200s and Ableton Live.
He's started many notorious club
nights in Toronto's music scene, such as Dance Like You Fuck (Thursdays @
Strange Love), Heavy Saturdays @ Chroma (The Guvernment), Remix This!
(Wednesdays @ Andy Poolhall), Big City Nights @ Andy Poolhall, Z-List
Wednesdays @ Cobra, Hello Saturdays @ Revival, C.O.A.P. Fridays @ Mod
Club and many more. He is the founder and developer of the Z-List
promotion group and website (www.z-list.com), and he's the one responsible for the "The Toronto Dee Jays" shirts you see walking around the streets of T.O.
He has played all of Toronto's hottest clubs including Circa, The
Guvernment, The Koolhaus, The Social, Wrongbar, Fez Batik, Revival, Mod
Club, Andy Poolhall, The Royal Ontario Museum, Cobra, StrangeLove,
C-Lounge, Chroma, Sneeky Dees, Palais Royale, The Boiler House, Hotel,
Lobby, Rockwood... pretty much them all. He has opened/closed for the
who's who of big name acts; Skrillex, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, SAVOY,
Dada Life, RAC, Riva Starr, Grum, Chromeo, Kill The Noise, Nervo, Dirt
Nasty, Mickey Avalon, Max Vangeli, The XX, Chew Fu, Kid Koala, MSTRKRFT,
AutoErotique, Zed's Dead, Dj Dan, Passion Pitt, Hudson Mohawke, Does It
Offend You, Yeah?, Ladytron, The Rapture, Wale, Mike Relm, Junior
Sanchez, Skeet Skeet, The Stills, Far East Movement, Cold Blank, KOAN
Sound, Torro Torro, Andy's iLL, LOL Boys and more. On the road, he's
played most of Canada and the US and big festivals such as Rogers Picnic
(Toronto) and Escapade Music Fest (Ottawa).
