Upon stumbling on a Metalheadz promo tape in 1995, Slantooth got hooked on his first dose of drum & bass. That following year was also the same year he become friends and comrades with the 360 BPM crew. Slantooth and 360 BPM along side many others pioneered and fueled the drum & bass scene in the mid-90's. Working at Concepts Record Store along side Zacharia, and DJ Nitusj(360 BPM) in 1997, Slantooth got the gig that might of mattered most in his career at the time... The Baltic Room. 360 BPM, Slantooth, and many, many others local, national, and international graced the Baltic and, it was deemed best drum & bass night in the country in 1998-1999. It is also deemed as the longest running drum & bass night in the country, with "Onset", Seattle's longest running Saturday night running right behind it. Slantooth has played along side many "old school hard hitters" such as Goldie, Jumping Jack Frost, Dillinja & LemonD, Spirit, Usual Suspects, and many more. In 2002, Slantooth became the owner of CompoundSeattle. A brother store of Compound San Francisco. The first and only all drum & bass store in the country. Compound Seattle and, San Francisco are now closed but, Slantooth has kept the Compound Seattle name and crew alive. Be on the lookout for Compound Seattle Recordings soon.
